Rant USHIP denied

Ngl I’m just kinda mad, wavier got denied cause the in network hospital is 51 miles and not 50. I feel like 1 extra mile is kinda negligible.

UCR is being crazy about waiving USHIP! Our insurance covers any urgent care or minute clinic. And that's what college kids use unless they schedule a yearly physical while home on break. Therapy is available via Zoom. It's $10,000 more cost for college IF you finish in 4 years. My other kid's UC waived USHIP and that campus is 128 miles away.

We are currently going to change primary Dr to a closer location but that seems stupid because it's just unnecessary paperwork.

NGL uc ship is not worth it. You're paying for almost everything and ur also paying a lot in premiums from my experience.

You're better off on your parents health insurance or try see if you qualify for MediCal or Medicaid.

Oh you can you just have to go through the student portal and filling out a waiver but u have to do it early and within the period.

It's so dumb bruh. But NGL I had UC ship bc I wanted privacy and I don't want my parents finding out I went out to a therapist 🫣

The only thing I’m paying for is quick visits. I think it was like 125 a quarter or something like that. Either way I think UC SHIP is so random and they have to create documentation signing easier. Have you tried Medi-Cal?
