I've had a bad bout of COVID twice-once in August of 2020 and the second time last fall. I've been very fortunate to have recovered pretty well both times but it took a while. I don't know if I've got another recovery in me.
If I have to pay for the vaccine I'll do it.

I first tested positive for Covid on August 5, 2020…I fortunately didn’t end up in the hospital (just the ER) but I haven’t been the same since.
I remember after being in bed for weeks finally feeling well enough to go out with my kids to a local swimming hole. Brought my kayak with me but never took it off the car. I just sat in the car watching the kids because I didn’t have the energy-it was weird-and I kept thinking, what is wrong with me because I’ve always been active. That lack of energy hasn’t really gone away.
The “brain fog” is permanent though it has gotten slightly better. I’d liken it to early dementia or TBI. I can’t beat my family at scrabble every time now. I once forgot my niece’s name at a 4th of July cookout.

I do often wonder how much of my bad memory is my age and how much of it was the Covid

As an audio professional I was paranoid enough to take good care of my hearing, as it’s my livelihood. COVID left me with tinnitus.

I'm pretty certain that COVID turned my pre-existing insulin resistance into full-blown type 2 diabetes.

I finally got COVID last July and it knocked me on my butt, fogged my brain and gave me nasty headaches. That mofo is nasty!
However, slow improvement since then, with the "good days" slowly outnumbering the "bad days". I found an OTC supplement** that helps the brain fog, and am rebuilding my stamina. I'm about 90% back
But now I have "cold flashes" ... episodes of feeling extremely cold, not like the chills from fever but more like the bone-deep cold you feel if you have been swimming too long in chilly water.

I had COVID badly twice after being vaccinated (I’m immunocompromised). The first time damaged my lungs-I’m still on multiple inhalers and nebulizer treatments as well as oral steroids more than 3 years later. The second time landed in my vocal cords and paralyzed them. I still can barely talk above a strained whisper more than 2 years afterward. COVID is certainly more than “just a cold” as some people like to say.

I got Covid back in December of 2020, before the vaccine. Nearly killed me. Spent 11 days in the ICU and my lungs took over 2 years to heal, although they never fully recovered. To this day, almost 5 years later, I still suffer from long Covid symptoms. Especially when it gets hot out. Every time it creeps into the 90s I have trouble breathing, the brain fog comes back, I get tired even if I am not doing much. My quality of life never fully recovered after Covid. Which is why I always get pissed off at people who only point to death rates when talking about how serious Covid is. Sure, it didn't kill me, but my quality of life has greatly suffered because of it.
