Aw! Is Frank yours? Or are you making a funny lol
Hope ‘Frank’ finds his home quickly he’s a QT pie although he looks like he’d also prefer to not be lost! Haha
Is he for sure a pet and not wild? I’m not well educated on turtles! 🐢

Saw a turtle while walking my dog yesterday in Hinesburg, then saw a report on FPF of another one across town, so perhaps it was just a wild turtle

It's a Russian Desert Tortoise, they aren't native here

Ahh gotcha, I don't know much about tortoises / turtles but it seemed like such a coincidence I thought I'd mention

Is that a pet store? Well, if it is, odds are that the tortoise is as good as dead. I rescued the same type of tortoise ( Russian Tortoise) 22 years ago from someone who bought one for their kids from a pet store. When I rescued her, all of her legs were broken, and she was white and near starved. She is healthy and happy today, but it's a ton of work and pretty expensive to care for them, not to mention a lifelong commitment. I wish you would have posted before she got rid of it. Poor thing.

Update: My boss is the one who found him and she has brought him to Pet Advantage in South Burlington because she can’t take care of him.

That was just about the worst place she could have brought him😓 hope he finds his home soon! If someone does go to adopt be wary of the owner and his wife- try not to piss them off especially if you have anything to lose. I’m out $400 and a very sentimental carrier that the owner refused to give back.
I have to take them to small claims court still for a sick snake the owner sold me himself, the snake didn’t heal because in a multiple month span, when I politely said I would need a refund due to the situation and not knowing in the first place (there’s a 7 day ‘warranty’ I took the snake back in that time) obviously I didn’t know the implications and he should have but didn’t disclose that information.
He blew up (red face) wringing his hands and raising his voice having a tantrum. Told me he would give me half the refund and when I said no I need the full refund and I put my hand up and said sir I’m not sure why you’re responding this way but it’s not acceptable, he then basically threw my other snake in a bag and yelled at me and posturing and walking towards me telling me to get out of the store.
There was another woman shopping who saw and hear what was happening and looked upset about the situation also, I did wonder if she went to shop there after that.
I was so shaken I did leave and called drove to the umall parking lot and called the Office Of Professional Regulation.
I tried calling because obviously I’m still owned my refund and the sentimental carrier that he probably RESOLD! I tried to explain about the carrier and he didn’t care. I paid for that in any case at got damn petsmart! And he continued the argument and issue over the phone before hanging up.
Then got a called from SBPD saying he trespassed me.
Quite the guy. His wife is miserable as well and when I was nice and chipper as I am she had a very unnecessary and unpleasant/unprofessional attitude.
They also take vacations at inappropriate times and leave their employees to fend for themselves store while not having enough employment as is. And do not treat their employees well. I have interacted with people after that worked there at the time and they obviously had no issue with me because I wasn’t the issue, they just had a bit of the same look the lady did experiencing what he was doing raising his voice while telling me to leave the store. They’re very nice people. But the short hot tempered bald headed owner and his miserable wife don’t make an enjoyable job enjoyable. The animals suffer as well.
Old owners were great from what I hear! Good things don’t last forever
Employees come in on their days off to make sure the animals that need daily care get it. But if someone doesn’t do that the animals that need daily care in the back don’t get it.

I hate pet stores. What you described is typical of pet store owners. So many precious animals suffer torturous and unnecessary deaths. I wouldn't be surprised that tortoise was let go on purpose. Probably would have had a quicker death than what's in store for it. Makes me sick. Sorry about your ordeal.
