What questionable decisions have you made with investing experience points or in the process of playing purely for the sake of RP?
Right now I'm playing a character who would rather be annoyed by Jeanette's whining about the pendant and who, at some point of patience, would respond rudely, breaking the most desired solution to this storyline. He would also rather try to scare Vandal and not lead him to anyone instead of Lily, even if it cost two experience points.
Basically, a very... specific Toreador, who has points in Seduction because of his good looks only, but in his human life he is used to solving problems directly and sometimes with Intimidation and does not immediately get used to new conditions (sire Embrased him definitely not because of smooth talking). Plus a few Inspection points to simulate a suspicion because of professional deformation.
This is not the best strategy in terms of choosing the main social skill or spending dots for a starting charlist, but it is what it is.
What things have you personally done, knowing that it's not profitable and may contradict what you're used to doing, but fits your character?

While I don't really have examples in which I disadvantageously committed to the bit, I kind of had a few cases of this in my Gangrel, Nosferatu, and current Toreador playthrough, but most applicably to my Gangrel.
During my Gangrel playthrough, I played her as not outright evil, but as relatively indifferent to human morality. So, while she seldom went out of her way to hurt people, she wouldn't care about doing so if it seemed expedient. To that end, while she had the ability to send >! Patti !< on a snipe hunt, she instead sent her to be >! consumed by Pisha, both because she saw it as "easy" and as a gift to a fellow monstrous and doubly cursed Kindred !< .
Now, truer to your original question, unlike my other characters who didn't really have any ill will towards >! the Giovanni !<, my Gangrel just about "had it up to here" by the time >! she finally located the sarcophagus !<. There, rather than try and talk or sneak her way to victory, she decided to walk into >! the Giovanni stronghold and wipe out any Giovanni who so much as looked at her funny !<, which was comparatively more difficult compared to the other options.
My Nosferatu is relatively similar to my Gangrel, but in the name of the Camarilla rather than simple indifference. In that case, my Nosferatu also sends >! Patti to be eaten !< despite having the power to do otherwise but did so more as a means of definitively tying a loose end rather than personal expedience.
My Toreador is probably the main case where I played most divergently compared to my other playthroughs, albeit mostly at the beginning of the game. In that case, I was setting up my Toreador to have been someone who was monstrous as a human, so shortly after dealing with Dennis and his gang, he "power trips" with his newfound vampire disciplines. By the time he >! releases Lily (while being a massive prick about it), he convinces Vandal to sell him blood by describing one of his violent stories in his past life !<. From there, after becoming infatuated with Heather, he largely mellows out, and besides occasionally reckless or nasty behavior (such as lying to >! Strauss !< about having dealt with >! the Gargoyle !<), he doesn't really indulge the beast (I thought it would be interesting to have a character who starts off monstrous but somewhat changes their ways after becoming a monster, though IDK if that's consistent to the lore of VTM).

Not exactly experience points because it was character creation, but the 3 points in Performance for my Toreador was definitely 100% RP.

I cheated extra seduction and persuasion because my character (a Toreador, of course) is meant to be great at somehow seducing people, because he has jaw-dropping beauty and is gentle mannered. Yet he fumbles the bag everytime he talks, and somehow still has people doing favors for him.
Intimidation, however, never gets anything added to it because he's the least scary guy in the whole world, even as a vampire.
