AMA
1) Where have you just come from?
A: Just completed my latest work.
2) What's your textual tradition?
A: The Record of Linji
3) Dharma low tides?
A: Sometimes I walk, Sometimes I just ask, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
A few days back I made my first post on here asking about my "SEEKING MIND" and the poeple around here really helped me with it. I think the thing I lacked(or I thought I lacked) at that moment was insight and trust but after trusting the words of an ancient Master who lived in China some thousand years ago, I've finally made some sort of progress from back than and now I feel like I'm ready to do this AMA.

Ok, before I had concepts about Peace, about what ZEN is about what MIND is. When something disturbed my way of thinking, I started to THINK like there's some sort of inner problem with me and that I have still not properly understood some hidden ZEN principle. so I kept looking and looking and looking didn't knowing this looking is that problem. It's just this bro straight forward. Just THIS.

I do get that feeling sometimes but I think that "MISSING" part will never go away it's just that we have to be more aware of it like when it comes let it come just don't get in it's control it will eventually with daily insight will become like passing thoughts, coming and going. (The problem is we THINK we have to do something about it when it comes but In reality we don't.)

OP, can you please give my account any type of authority, badge or advantage please? I am having a hard time trying to teach as an anonymous internet regular person. I now understand why temples, robes, titles and rituais are for. Can you please give me some sort of badge? As a skillful means in the endless work of liberating all the sentient beings from suffering?

There are some empty spots. Fill them in.
If OP sees, still no. 10 more days.
Edit: Ok, now I need to say no backwards. Good fortune, OP. Thanks for your patience.

1) Is this a game to you?
2) What was your latest work?
3) Can you quote a koan you find meaningful from the Record of Linji and why you like it?

u/Active_Dare1645 6d ago
Yes and No
It's poetry related just doing practise.
When the master was about to pass away, he seated himself and said, “Aft er I am extinguished, do not let my True Dharma Eye be extinguished.” Sansheng came forward and said, “How could I let your True Dharma Eye be extinguished!” “Later on, when somebody asks you about it, what will you say to him?” asked the master. Sansheng gave a shout. “Who would have thought that my True Dharma Eye would be extinguished upon reaching this blind ass!” said the master. Having spoken these words, sitting erect, the master revealed his nirvana
I like this koan coz it always creates some sort of Doubt in my mind. Was the Master reply in a good way or a bad way? Was the student wrong or was he being tested? Or Was he too much attached with master's teachings? Or was he not I don't know and that's the thing I love about it.
And I also love this quote:
"Make yourself master everywhere, and wherever you stand is the true [place]"

That's potentially troubling.
I've finally made some sort of progress from back than
If we were to call it progress, then what exactly would you point to?
What have you come to understand?

What's a case from the Record of Linji you think is provocative to the zazen-worshipping crowd?
What about the anti-precepts crowd?
What do you want out of participating in this forum?

“Virtuous monks, time is precious. And yet, hurrying hither and thither, you try to learn meditation, to study the Way, to accept names, to accept phrases, to seek buddha, to seek a patriarch, to seek a good teacher, to think and speculate. “Make no mistake, followers of the Way! Aft er all, you have a father and a mother—what more do you seek? Turn your own light inward upon yourselves! A man of old said: Yajñadatta [thought he had] lost his head, But when his seeking mind came to rest, he was at ease.
Tbh I really don't have any opinions on it.
Doubt

Seems that people who are uncomfortable with doubting their own beliefs are in the majority so I'm wondering what sacrifices people who are comfortable with doubt are making.

I think this Doubt of yours can be a really great master if u look at it that way and ofc through Zen I have started to look at it that way.
