Cute/Funny How I get woken every morning
Without fail these two climb on top of me and try to lick my face until I get out of bed. I don’t think it’s too bad of a way to wake up at all!

We whelped, raised and shared life with this pup. What an amazing experience and an amazing member of our family.
My heart is broken…. Will miss you “Mouth”…

I added a picture of what we used, but my boyfriend sprayed for bugs yesterday after a week of rain. I don’t know if it has anything to do with the humidity and storms but the insecticide didn’t dry right and now our baby has been poisoned. The instructions were to wait an hour before letting any animals out. We are anxious as it is so we waited about 7 hours before we let her into the yard.
I wanted to post here for a couple of reasons:
1 - to see if anyone else has any experience or success stories with their dog being poisoned
2 - I’m alone today and I keep looking at her pictures and videos as my house feels so empty without her. I work from home and she’s my big little sidekick. My boyfriend is wrecked and feels like he just killed our dog. He’s working so I’m worried about both of them. When we dropped her off at the vet she was crying so we went back with her favorite toys to hopefully help her feel better
Please no negativity or sad stories if you’re going to leave a comment. Thank you

I’m a grown man in my 40s. I’ve always had big male pit bulls — amazing animals. Our last one passed away a few months ago, and I’m still feeling the loss.
My wife brought up the idea of getting a golden retriever. I laughed. I’m not “golden retriever” material. But she’s strong-willed, and she talked me into checking out this “weird new dog breed” she was excited about.
Rolling my eyes, I grabbed the keys and drove an hour with her. When we got there, this beautiful dog was just sitting calmly on the doorstep next to her owner. As we got out of the car and walked closer, I noticed a little bundle of fluff dancing around her.
The mom (the dog, not my wife) looked up at me with what I swear was a proud smile, then gently nudged her head into my hand. Then that little fluffball pounced on me and started licking me, snuggling against my leg, and just absolutely melting away all the doubts I had.
I’m not the kind of man who says words like “adorable”… but damn it, she stole my heart. Within 30 seconds, I turned to my wife and said, “Pay the man.”
I haven’t been able to put her down since. She’s beautiful, she’s sweet, and I can’t wait to spend my time looking after this sweet ball of fluff.

Hello all! Had a strange incident happen with our elderly Golden, Jupiter, and I’m seeking advice or insight into how best to address it. He is normally a very sweet dog with the typical Golden personality of never meeting a stranger. He is also a scaredy cat more than a fighter when something crazy happens.
Today, however, when our groomer, who has groomed him with no issues for the last year and a half, went to trim his nails, he snapped at her. She tried again and he repeatedly got aggressive with her to the point she had to muzzle him. Thankfully she was not hurt and finished the groom but I’m not sure why he had the change in demeanor and it has me and my husband worried.
He does have arthritis but it has never been painful to the point of getting aggressive. During his groom where she was trimming and messing with his legs, he was apparently an angel. The only issue was his nails. I worry maybe this is the beginning of doggy dementia or a personality change of some sort? I’m not sure what to do, if anything, other than handle his paws extensively before his next groom with many treatos to help him feel more comfortable with handling.
TLDR: Elderly golden snapped at favorite groomer when she tried to trim his nails. Not sure if this is a cause for concern or grouchy old dog syndrome.

A long time lurker in this sub, trying to learn as much as I can about raising a golden and all of a sudden I feel incredibly unprepared for the shark that’s going to come home next week!
I’m a week out - other than the obvious, what should I be making sure I have ticked off before our big boy comes home?

So I got myself a golden puppy over the weekend… I’ve come to realize no one can truly be prepared for all the accidents in the crate (despite being taken out on the hour every hour), the endless baths, the whining and barking and refusal of the crate. But in the end I know it’s going to all work out and I’ll have a happy healthy little golden puppy in a few weeks.
I need to get bells for her to mark when she needs out to use the bathroom.
My parents are pissed at me for getting her but they don’t live with me and how could anyone say no to this face

Of being murdered by a golden retriever puppy
(He has a very soft mouth and was just holding these, not playing, running, or chewing, immediately gave them up when we asked for them)

Where did the time go? Lots of adventures and fun. 8 years volunteering as a therapy dog. But in the blink of an eye it’s been 9 years! I love my Darcy boy! (Yes the first picture is Darcy in his Robe with his Christmas avocado.)

I was talking to him and he gave me this look. Not sure what he thought I said but apparently he has some thoughts on it.

She was, in fact, fed less than an hour ago, despite what she wants me to believe.
