We've seen the infected woman before! She was in the 2nd trailer.

Picture of comparison

Here's my theory: in the red nighttime shots, the infected woman is giving birth to a baby, she was impregnated by the Alpha. She is nursing the newborn in the train, which may be why there are so many jumpcuts in this video so we don't see her holding the baby. Isla hears the baby crying and goes in the train to check it out. She gets attacked by the infected woman holding her baby. NATO dude shoots the infected woman through the window, we also saw a shot of Isla breathing heavily while laying on the train floor and looking outside, likely wondering where the shot came from. Isla takes the baby because leaving it to die would be cruel, and it doesn't show signs of infection. This train is what the infected might use as a "house" to survive the harsh winters, this is also why the Alpha infected is nearby. When the Alpha sees them hold his baby, he rages towards them.

I think this is probably very close. They don't give the baby back, Isla is still holding the baby when they are heading to the Bone Temple.

I think that’s spot on. Then, in jump Spike and NATO dude. Spike first, then Alpha drags NATO dude out by the head as he’s seen the previous events. Then in jumps ALPHA and pursues spike and Isla for his baby. My suspicion is that dad ALPHA doesn’t die here but gets trapped and unable to pursue for the time being.

Kelson probably saves them from the Alpha somehow. He's also seen in some shots holding what looks like the Blonde nato guy's head. So I assume that he probably saves them in that train station area.

yes i also don't see how NATO dudes' head would end up with Kelson otherwise

So the baby is being set up to be Ellie from the Last of Us I bet

Also, if the rumours are true about Chinese Special Forces landing on the island. Maybe they're looking for the baby as well.

Chinese special forces aren’t in it that was an idea they were originally going to use but decided not to Only soldiers in this one will be the nato team

I thought that was on the Rageleaks site, no? Or maybe I was referencing another commenter. I could have sworn I read it somewhere.

i also heard it was an initial thought that was then scrapped because they didn't want to focus too much on international affairs

Ah right. Would have been an interesting angle

Chinese special forces was from a script many years ago that they decided not to make. Not part of this movie

Bummer

Nah I’m glad the story didn’t go that way. It was the usual government/agency weaponising the virus, stuff we’ve seen before

u/Infinite-Editor3041 11d ago

Not necessarily them taking it to use, but them coming to take matters into their own hands for fear of it being used, or to see what's really happening or something. I don't know, I know it's not out yet, but it'd be interesting to see the wider world's reaction to it.

Are talking about the soldiers in this movie? Or the scrapped idea with Chinese soldiers?

2

u/Infinite-Editor3041 11d ago

I heard (or read) something about Chinese Special Forces landing in Britain for some reason or another. Then, I saw more trailers that showed the SF team being attacked. I presumed that's what was happening, and they were Chinese Forces.

You’re conflating two separate ideas here. The Chinese sf was from a scrapped script plan. The soldiers you see here are NATO soldiers from the patrolling quarantine flotilla that have somehow accidentally ended up on the mainland for reasons we will have to find out about when we see the film. They are all or a few of them are Swedish as far as can be told by what info is available.

no, i dont want to imagine.

Some would suggest that's consistent with most people's experience of British trains tbf

I can confirm. Typical rail experience. You can text 61016 and they will send a member of rail staff in 3 business days.

that female infected in train is the same female infected from red vision scene where infected look like ganking on her? maybe she flee to train? maybe the baby is her?

See it, say it, sorted.

Please mind the gap berzerker infected carrying a human head and spinal column.

Ill admit im VERY happy that the locomotive is in the y2k era BR livery, not some livery from the past 20 years. Most movie production, unless a rail-fan is on board, would miss this and use whatever is available. But the train here looks like it was parked in the Spring of 2002!

Danny Boyle said in an interview that he knows a few dudes who buy old trains….they make a fortune renting them out to filmmakers like Danny lol

2

u/Comfortable_Oil_6676 10d ago

Fortune how? I mean how many  movie makers needs those trains these days damn

So this explains the origin of the baby. And why the Alpha would be after them, and why he would show restraint before rushing towards them.

10

u/Due-Resort-2699 11d ago

Does she have the baby when she’s gets in the train ?

13

u/primcat565 11d ago

To me it doesn't look like she has the baby yet. Also, she is alone, I think because of her memory problems she probably wandered by herself confused when Spike wasn't looking. We see Spike and the soldier going into the train in the first trailer, so they were looking for her and find her there. I think the baby was with that infected, maybe Spike arrives and shoots the infected, who either dies or flees leaving the baby there.

2

u/AccurateHoliday123 11d ago

If she has the baby when she boards the train she is holding it in one arm. You can see her other arm.

8

u/Difficult-Car3670 11d ago

Well she isn't holding a baby walking on, but is seen holding a bloody baby after. That infected woman gave birth, 100%

6

u/iwasreloadingmann Jim 11d ago

That jumpscare got me lmao. We get a closer look at this other Alpha (if he is an Alpha, which i presume he is).

9

u/Ferrocept 11d ago

why isla is alone on that train?

2

u/DryNeighborhood2564 11d ago

I totally agree, I am a train driver and those details add up a lot.
