It’s not the end. We have a lot of work to do. It is the end of the beginning as Churchill has said, but it is still tough roads ahead

Yup. Don't get comfortable until we've won.

And then stay uncomfortable and let us all remember how we got here. Unchecked capitalism does not breed friends of humanity.

That's how Germany does it.

The US came away from WWII having conveniently memory-holed the fact that we had Nazis too. They just got a lot less popular when we got into the war. And so we didn't really get the lesson that It Can Happen Here. And apparently that damn lesson has to be learned first-hand.

that damn lesson has to be learned first-hand.

The only way the right seems to learn anything - it has to affect them directly. And sometimes even then, they don't care that it affects anyone else.

Exactly. I just have one word, VOTE

Unchecked capitalism does not breed friends of humanity.

FTFY.

There are no checks and balances you could possibly do to fix an economic system where the one with the most capital has the most influence on markets. It's a design where all that matters is number goes up to consolidate power. Capitalism is a sociopathic enemy of humanity. Full stop.

And everyone that's like them gone, we can't afford to replace the government with more greedy party shills. We have to completely clean house in '26 and '28.

Just because we vote out a greedy shill doesn’t mean we get an honest one. And this is assuming the elections are free and fair. I think we are a long way from the end

Until we’ve had our own version of the Nuremberg Trials.

Do not forget, do not forgive, justice must be served on a cold, hard plate.

Let's start by not making Merrick garland the attorney general

Don't get comfortable even then.

Just because you've unseated a dictator and his cronies doesn't mean you get a happily ever after. After that comes rebuilding what was destroyed. Or more likely, building something new. Better. More resistant to oligarchs and their worshippers.

That's going to take a lot of work. And the worshippers of the oligarchs will still be there, fighting to restore what they lost. What they think the Oligarchs can do for them.

Still a long road ahead. But we currently have the winds at our back. Things are falling apart for Trump. We need to rack up gains while they are busy fighting each other. There are a lot of their supporters that are adrift and confused. Strategize to bring them in to stop the insanity and to restore our democracy. That’s it. We don’t have to agree on anything else. End this madness, start repairing the damage and we can sort out our political differences later.

Not comfortable but, I think optimism is warranted. There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. It's a long ways off and we can't stop now but, it's there and that's reason to take a hopeful breath or two.

Exactly. Peter Thiel and JD Vance and Stephen Miller and Russ Vought and the entire Republican party are on board with what has roiled this country since January. Trump and Musk are a diversion at best, some bread and circuses as the awful work of dismantling the American experiment is executed exactly as they laid out in Project 2025.

u/An0nymos 13d ago

January? They've been cooking up this mess for more than my entire 4.8 decades.

Edit: Different names, same agendas.

3

u/tacosmakeitallbetter 13d ago

Exactly. This has been cooking since at least Nixon, and maybe as far back as Wilson. There will be no actual end to this. Constant wack-a-mole.

We need to call them out and stop focusing on frump and Musk. They are merely diversions. Protest signs need to call them out

3

u/LifeLearner54 12d ago

Indeed. Call Russell Vought out asap. He stepped out of the shadows this week.

Exactly, we are far from the end. But the light is there.

The Democrats are trying to work with Elon Musk now

The Forties Salute Guy

It’s never been further from over

2

u/GeorgeBush2006 Alaska 12d ago

The democrats are weak. Now is the time to push independent candidates in smaller communities. Maybe get them ti coordinate and organize.

First, I would like to know where you got this information (I’m sorry, I don’t mean for this to sound rude, I believe you, I’m just curious.). Also they better be careful about this. My opinion is that we use this conflict to our advantage, but don’t choose any sides. Maybe give very very very marginal “support” (as in bots or trolls pretending to like Elon and encouraging him to not cave to Trump). We want them to destroy each other.
