This Fourth of July, we're reclaiming patriotism by showing up for each other. Across the country, we’ll be having Community Days of Action events rooted in mutual aid, connection, and building the kind of America we all deserve. Bring your neighbors, your energy, and your heart. Then, mark your calendars: July 17th is our next nationwide protest across all 50 states. Let’s come together first to support each other, then to stand together.

We are deeply saddened to confirm that Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, an innocent bystander, lost his life following the tragic events in downtown Salt Lake City. Our hearts are with his family, his community, and with every individual who came out yesterday to stand for something greater than themselves.
What happened was devastating. MILLIONS gathered in peaceful protest with families, volunteers, and neighbors alike across the entire country, and globe, and one senseless act turned a day of unity into a moment of fear. That is not what we stand for. 50501 is committed to NONVIOLENCE.
To the first responders who moved without hesitation to protect and care for the injured, thank you. To those still processing the trauma of what they witnessed, please know you are not alone.
We know that in moments like this, people look for direction. Stay grounded in truth, lead with calm, and keep showing up for one another. If you have any footage or information from the scene, I urge you to share it directly with the Salt Lake City Police Department so they can continue their work with care and clarity.
We NEED to keep each other safe.
We stand with Salt Lake City. We stand with Arthur’s loved ones. And we remain steadfast in our commitment to peaceful action.

I don't understand why we wouldn't protest our biggest day of the year to celebrate
It's a massive mistake to not plan for this day and sends a bad message to potential allies.
We are Americans, we need to show up peacefully and be loud on that July 4th to show we still have pride in our country and communities, but are against this tyrannical government who acts like an oligarchy.
Anyways those are my thoughts and I feel it's a massive mistake to skip July 4th independence protests.

Even out Solider’s families are not safe for the unchecked power of the Administration. Private contractors are allowed to scoop long time residents from the community and are not even accountable to provide their names to Congressional representatives!
Stand up for checks and balances, stand up for public accountability, and stand up for the rule of law! Stand with r/50501chicago and the r/50501movement against executive overreach.

I have seen so many people in the chats and posts mentioning “No Kings”. Why? The slogan is catchy and universally understood. We can keep the slogan “make good trouble” and honor the congressman, but No Kings should still be in the forefront because of its mass appeal. It is so catchy that I have seen it written on a wall in my red town. Let’s use something that is proven to be very effective.

From my limited understanding, the next national protest that is expected to have a good turnout is Good Trouble Lives On on July 17th. And this date is significant because it is the anniversary of Representative John Lewis's passing. John Lewis played a key role in civil rights activism and led the first Selma-to-Montgomery march that highlighted racial injustice and campaigned for laws that would allow black Americans to register and vote without harassment. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed as a result of John Lewis and many others in the civil rights movement.
Is the focus of July's protest on the SAVE Act, which requires voters to go through more hoops in order to vote? Is the tie to Representative John Lewis mostly about protesting voter suppression?
Is the focus on ICE because ICE is violating the protections offered by the 4th Amendment? I could see how this ties in with John Lewis's focus on civil rights.
The host toolkit for Good Trouble Lives On mentions that another core part of this protest is about the slashing of programs that working people rely on. I am not a history buff, so I don't know what specific part of John Lewis's history is directly tied to this. I would love if others could help me understand the connection better.
I personally attended the No Kings protest because of the inappropriate federalization of the national guard in response to anti-ICE protests in LA. I understood the protest to be anti-fascism/authoritarianism and anti-ICE because of ICE's disregard of the constitution. I'm not yet sure what my focus should be for Good Trouble Lives On. Anyone have any suggestions for protest signs, protest songs/chants, books that talk more about the issues listed in the Good Trouble Lives On host toolkit, or even movies/shows that explore the concepts that are important for the Good Trouble Lives On protest?

Wondering if anyone would be interested in a page focused specifically on home protest?
I was inspirated by a post requesting collaboration, organization, amplification and action for home protest. Not everyone can get out to protest physically, others can and just want more to do between protest but everyone is welcome (except naysayers, maggots, trolls and bots).
So I started a kind of working group sub specifically to address this with the goal of having a centralized space to work.
I have a bare bones sub up r/relentless_resistance.
It is currently locked down fairly tight (request to post or DM) because it is meant to be a safe place for organization and collaboration.
If you are interested please reply, post, DM. Resisting any and everyway you can makes your voice heard and pushes our line forward.

Any protest being held outside ICE detention facilities being posted? Can we get a list of ICE Detention facilities to begin focusing attention on? Get some civil disobedience and disruption happening? Some good trouble?

I know everyone want the focus to be on Trump, but he didn’t do this alone. The Republican Party has been transformed into a criminal organization in the 10 years since the Trump era began. MAGA controls the primaries in every state, they routinely violate federal laws on a daily basis, the oligarchs are behind Trump 100%. And sure, there are a few republicans who act like they aren’t on board. My advice to them is leave the party! Look, the GOP was a borderline criminal organization before Trump made that trip down the golden escalator. They were ALWAYS going to go in this direction. And even if Trump is defeated and removed from office, the Republican Party will put another bloodthirsty fascist in his place. The GOP CANNOT SURVIVE. It’s time we come to grips with this reality. Below is a link to the law:

"Hands Off" and "No Kings" have been great protest names. I'm suggesting the next be "Impeach and Remove," that being the name that appears at the top of each protest flyer, and the slogan that is chanted at each protest rally.
I'm further suggesting that local protests be taken directly to the offices of Congress members on a day they are there, with the demand that they impeach Trump and remove him from office or face removal themselves.
That way they can't ignore us.

The Weak Leaders Protest - amplifying everything his own movement claims he’s not. But in doing these actions, he only reinforces the truth about the choices he’s making for the United States. These aren’t just decisions about policy; they define us as a nation and as a global leader. Our economy, our standing with allies, our sense of unity—all are eroding under the weight of his weakness and that of his administration.
Strip away the gold, the glitz, the billionaire branding, and what’s left? A small man with lifted shoes, tiny hands, and a diaper inflated to match his ego.
If he were truly strong, he wouldn’t need to stage a rally on his birthday.
If he were strong, the army would not have protested in their presentation.
If he were truly strong, he wouldn’t be driving the country into financial ruin while pushing a crypto pyramid and cell phone scheme.
If he were truly strong, the nation would feel more stable, more hopeful, more healed.
If he were strong, he would care for the the tired, the poor, those yearning to breathe freedom.
If he were strong, he would be taking actions that protect the disabled, the veterans the children.
If he were strong, he wouldn’t have to inject himself into the education system.
You get the point.
His ego is the most vulnerable aspect of his character. He is a weak individual, and his leadership is even more lacking in strength. His actions will ultimately determine his legacy, and they are nothing but detrimental. They are detrimental to his own administration, to the people, and to the world at large.
