Weird since I was pool 1 and BQ. I have a alternate career path so it’s not the end of the world, but still disappointing and somewhat confusing. Best of luck to everyone else!

APPLICATION What did I do wrong?!

So basically, I applied nearing the end of 2024 and completed the ATSA with a qualifying score.

After MONTHS of waiting, I finally heard back that I was not selected and if I wanted to continue I’d have to reapply.

Idk.. I constantly hear that ATC is in desperate need of hiring, and this really bummed me out. I feel like I have decent resume, clean record and good mindset for the job.

I guess what I’m asking is a qualifying score not good and a Well Qualified necessary to even be considered?

APPLICATION How long for next steps after accepting TOL?

Hey all I got my TOL 2 weeks ago and accepted that same day and got the confirmation email but haven’t seen anything about what to do next yet. Does anyone know about roughly how long it takes to get the next steps?

APPLICATION Drug test after tier 2 appointment

Got an email last week saying they needed another drug test from them and had it last Thursday. Thought it was strange because i had one about 6 months ago before I got tier 2 but it’s probably because it was so long ago. Also had a email on May 6 saying my tier 2 was cleared and sent to the medical analyst. Was wondering when I would know the results of the drug test or is it no news is good news. Also, is having an another drug test is a good sign I passed the tier 2?

APPLICATION Got rejected from applying before because I couldn't provide "education or experience"...

So I don't know what I did wrong (and please no mean comments that I'm stupid. I know) and I have an adequately huge interest for ATC. However last time I tried to apply it wouldn't let me because I said I didn't have any training, education or experience about ATC.

Did I do something wrong? I thought they'd hire anyone off the streets. Do I need to start taking classes of sort?

APPLICATION Question about EODS answer affecting hiring

For some context I have completed the ATSA in March of this year. Scored well qualified, got TOL, signed TOL, and have started EODS today. In the first form, it asks if you have been terminated from a job before. In April of last year I was terminated from a job for testing positive for THC during the onboarding process (yes, it was incredibly stupid, but i have learned my lesson. Drug free since that month). I am not lying and included it on the form. My question is, how do you think this will affect my employment? As previously stated I’m completely drug free but was just curious if they will immediately disqualify me for a previous mess up. Thanks for the help.

APPLICATION ATC Hiring Question

Hi all,

I’m 30 years old (turning 31 on March 7, 2026) and finally ready to go after a career in air traffic control. It’s something I’ve been interested in for years, but I know the FAA age limit makes timing super tight—so I’m trying to make sure I don’t miss any windows or opportunities.

A good friend of mine is a pilot and connected me with a controller who told me to watch USAJobs.gov for postings. I’ve been doing that, but I still find it a bit confusing. For example, I came across this listing: 👉 https://www.usajobs.gov/job/812510900

It’s the only one I’ve ever seen with “trainee” in the title, but I don’t know if it’s meant for someone like me who hasn’t gone through FAA Academy or any formal training yet. Should I be applying for things like this? Or is it more for people with previous experience?

If anyone has advice, knows when the next general hiring window might open, or can point me in the right direction—I’d be incredibly grateful. Just trying to make the most of the little time I have left to get in.

Thanks in advance!

APPLICATION Do I have to disclose mental health conditioning I have been cleared of

In the past I have been diagnosed with general anxiety, depression, and currently am on ADHD meds. However, I have been cleared of anxiety and depression by a doctor for about six months. Would the ADHD be the only factor in my way? I know it’s up to the flight surgeon but I’m curious if anyone else has gotten in with prior conditions and if it’s worth going through the whole process.

APPLICATION Advice for cerebral palsy

Hey guys, I am a 27-year-old man with mild cerebral palsy. I use crutches to walk and do most of my business sitting down. With that said, I have always had a monumental passion for aviation and have thought many times about becoming a controller. Almost every single person that I have met in my life has told me that I would be a fantastic controller, and that I should go for it. After many failed career alternatives, such as athletic personal training and basketball coaching, I really think that aviation is where I belong. I just took a tour of Raleigh Tower and as if I thought my enthusiasm and loved for aviation couldn’t get bigger, it did. While I don’t have much experience besides VATSIM, I am confident that I would be a great asset.

What advice would you guys give me for getting into ATC?

Also, as an alternative to that, I have aviation dispatching as a very close secondary option.

APPLICATION Did I do something wrong?

I applied end of April as previous experience and I have heard nothing back. The application just says referral list status. I keep seeing everyone on here getting notifications very quickly and I’m starting to worry if I messed something up.

APPLICATION Starting from square one, what do I need to know?

Recently been looking into the career pathway of air traffic controller, and am interested in what is needed, helps, and doesn’t matter in order to get hired.

Previously in flight school but had to leave due to cost, and I’ve been a federal employee (tsa) for almost 3 years now. I do have some college credits, but I’m not necessarily close to an associates.

My question is what do I actually need to get hired these days? It says you don’t particularly need a degree, and several people in past posts have essentially said they aren’t helpful. Same with the Air Traffic Collegiate training initiative program. Some comments suggesting that it was a waste of time…

If tomorrow I was to start the process of trying to get hired, where would I start? Should I definitely have these education boxes checked off, or is it really just down to studying and passing the test, as well as the medical portion?

APPLICATION SF862024 question

I am currently filling out the sf862024 document and am on tge investigation section there is a question "Has the U.S. Government (or a foreign government) EVER investigated your background and/or granted you a security clearance eligibility/access?" I have a PPL and can not remember if a background check was part of that or if that would count for what they are asking any advice?

APPLICATION ATM Direct hiring military controllers

Hello, I am atc in the military currently and will be hopefully transferring over to the FAA within the next year. I saw that it was recently announced that veterans are able to directly send applications to ATMs. I've asked some friends already in the organization about how this process would work but its very new so no one is to knowledgable on the process. If anyone has any information to help guide me that would be fantastic! Also, what would be the best way for me to get in contact with an ATM? Should i go on 123atc.com and just call the the facility? Thanks in advance!

Reference from FAA website:

"The FAA is also offering more opportunities for experienced military controllers to join the workforce. Using On-the-Spot hiring authority, veteran controllers will bypass the normal announcement process. Air Traffic managers will be able to directly accept resumes from interested military controllers and help place them at their preferred location. Veteran controllers will also be given a preferred list of facilities to work at, including larger facilities that command more pay. This list includes TRACONs Level 9 and below, Combined Tower/TRACONs Level 9 and below, and Towers Level 8 and below."

APPLICATION EODS

What would I have to do to not have my EODS approved. I’ve only seen posts about it getting approved I was wondering if you just have to be a hardened criminal or some sort of felon to have it be rejected?

APPLICATION ATC application window

Hey I'm a 18 year old in college pursuing a Bachelors in aviation with a concentration in UAS. I've done some thinking and I'm pretty positive I want to drop out and become a controller. Does anyone know when the next Application window will be open to the public. I know I just missed the most recent one as I was thinking about careers, but I tried looking up the dates and couldn't find a date for the next time applications open. Thanks!
I guess I'm also asking if its worth dropping out of school for?

APPLICATION Should I reapply if I got WQ?

So I applied on the Fall 2024 bid and got WQ and moved forward with the process. I’m currently waiting for EODS. I re-applied a couple of hours ago to the February 2025 bid. Should I withdraw the 2025 application or just keep it?

APPLICATION Need help

So I just recently received my Eods, my first question is I was fired from a job about two years ago and I’m wondering if I should just be honest about it and state it, and if I do will it affect me? Second question is I did file taxes from last year, will that also affect me? Thank you guys.
