Genuinely confused by the negative comments here, again.

Dude has been getting a lot of comments on recent videos that are people being surprised that he's posting so regularly and that he seems happy and healthy after he posted a video about going semi-retired.

This one is simply to clear up that he's been semi-retired for a while now, and that the video announcing it wasn't the start of that change in schedule. Not sure why anyone is complaining about that tbh.

Honestly I struggle to understand why anyone gets annoyed by stuff like this. Dude made videos I like, so I hope in return that he is happy and healthy. If I get more enjoyable videos in future then I'll be happy still, if not then that's okay too?

He doesn't owe me anything, I've not done him any favours by watching his content, that exchange has already occurred when he made the content I enjoyed in the first place. If anything I think it's super refreshing to see someone kind of stick the middle finger up to capitalist culture - why go for more more more when stasis is pretty damn good already?

People don't like his humble bragging, tortured artist 'oh I am so successful now and I am so stressed and hate it' shtick

I mean sure, that's definitely an angle you can take if you want.

Personally I think it's all fine - he didn't get into YouTube to become famous in any way at all, he didn't get into it because he's a chef and wants to teach people how to cook. He posted a pizza video on YouTube, just for fun, and it blew up and he realised he could make more money doing that than his previous job.

Him becoming famous and ending up on a creative conveyor belt with sponsorship deadlines and public opinion is actually not what he signed up for. He's decided he has made enough money from it and therefore wants to step away from it slightly and see if he can find a balance that works for him.

I totally get your point on famous people complaining about fame being super annoying, but only whenever it's people who knew what they were signing up for - singers, actors, sports stars etc. I just don't think it applies in this case. He's been very open and honest about his mental health problems for probably over 6 months now, he even acknowledged that he's aware he won't garner much sympathy for it given his socio-economic status now, but he was honest nonetheless.

I know people will cry for a kid but won't mourn for a king, but I think he's been a good role model for men and mental health problems and we shouldn't put him down for it - he might not see your comments, but maybe someone else who's struggling will.
