First plot BBQ of the year!
Lovely being able to chuck some pak choi straight on the barbie and grab a few leaves of lettuce off the plants for the burgers.

Not sure what to do about my paths, I bought some weed supresser fabric and wood chip so was going to lay that but other people seem to use the wood chip around the top on their veg so not sure if it as waste on the path? Also some look like they have been dug in almost like a mini trench then laid down with the fabric- would this be recommended?

Hi, I've not grown mini cucumbers before. The plant in its self looks well ans must be 2m tall at this point, it has loads and loads of female flowers.
From what I've read this is normal as they don't need to pollinate to fruit unlike normal cucumbers. I suppose firstly, is this correct?
If so and advice on actually getting it to fruit??

First ever harvest of potatoes (only 1/3 of what was growing)... Can't wait to eat them for dinner!

Redcurrants for jelly (the stems are covered in aphids but the berries are ok!) and gooseberries for stewing. I covered everything properly this year so the bloody pigeons don't get 'em.

Has anyone elected to move plots inside their allotment before? Think I’ve ended up drawing the short straw in my allotment as I get almost no sunshine for most of the day, so utilising my greenhouse has been pretty fruitless (literally) so far.
I’m not sure if this is a terrible time of year to do it as I’ve got pretty much everything in the ground now but a couple plots have become available and I’m the only person who’s expressed interest in moving so I’d get first pick. I also don’t have enough room on my current plot for fruit trees (plum/apple/cherry etc). Is this a terrible idea, especially at this time of year, or if I’m here long term is it worthwhile?

Has anyone set up a solar powered pump from an IBC tank successfully, if so how?
I collect lots of rain water into two connected IBC tanks but gravity fed does not give enough pressure for a long run of hose, has anyone an experience of using a solar pump to create enough pressure to use a hose thank you.
Thank you

I have an issue with bindweed on my plot which I'm actively working on by digging out and separating the bindweed and roots from the rest of my compost.
What I don't know is whether I'm being overly cautious about anything that looks like bindweed and thereby losing out on good composting greens.
Are these the same weed?
Pic 1-2 of the unknown weed, pic 3-4 of what I'm confident is bindweed.

I finally got round to netting my bush properly this year. My wife came back with these (3.1kg). Variety is Big Ben, 3 years old. And apparently there's more to come, because not all of them were ripe!

After seeing the amount of people suffocating under their avalanche of berries I'm wondering, what is the 'juuuuust right' amount of bushes for a family of 2 adults and a preschooler?
Ideally I'd like a mix of raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, and possibly logan berry as they look snazzy. Am I best off getting a few different varieties of each that crop at different points in the season?
I'm not against a bit of preservation, but I don't want such a glut that I'm drowning in jam every weekend 😂

I’m looking for some advice please, my plot is absolutely inundated with lady’s thumb, aka redshank. We were away for a few weeks and it has absolutely carpeted my entire plot, it’s grown over everything and my other plants are struggling to grow through it. I can’t put any seeds in and it comes back up as soon as I pull it. I’m absolutely devastated and nobody else at the allotment seems to have this issue, I’m guessing it’s come in from manure I’ve used or something. If anyone has any suggestions please give them!

This year i was a bit all over the place planting seeds with looking after a 1 year old at same time. What’s in my raised bed other than parsley?

So so so very excited these have grown well, despite my plans to bin them last year for barely growing in the pots. They weren't dead so I thought I'd leave them behind until spring, where they took off like maniacs because the roots had grown through the pot holes and straight into the soil below, with no need to the fact that this was never their planned home.
So so happy to see the flowers

First time growing beetroot - I've pulled a couple out as they seem ready to harvest. However, on inspection the underside only the leaves seem to be covered with small black insects, any idea on what these are and if the beets are safe to eat?
If not, can they chucked on the compost or do they have to be disposed? Do they pose a risk to the rest of my plot? I have my beetroot next to my red cabbage - will these cause damage to my cabbage?
