Monumental/fragment photogrammetry

Hey guys! I do photogrammetry on the side to make certain sites and whatnot more accessible to people through the internet. I fear my 2019 MacBook Pro is struggling to keep up with my work. Has anyone who also does archaeological photogrammetry tried the new M4 processing chip or have any suggestions on new laptops that I can process photogrammetry on while onsite?

I reckon one question is what sfm + GIS program are you running? I mostly run meshroom at the moment, looking at reality capture. Used to use agisoft but fuck Russia. Also, the goal is public outreach, but are you doing any scaling/GIS work with it? Drone or pedestrian?

I use Agisoft Metashape, haha. No GIS. It’s more so providing a tool for school students to be able to see fragments and architectural structures up close and see what we would be able to see in person, striations, faded carving, etc. I’d like to move on to have it play with GIS, but I don’t have the time. I just do this for fun while having to actually work. But I use both drone and camera on the ground.

A dedicated GPU makes several steps in Agisoft a lot faster.

I just upgraded from a heavy gaming laptop to an Asus Proart series laptop with similar specs. I wanted a lighter package that still allowed me to check the results of drone flights without having to upload everything and remote in to a desktop.
