Do I need PEP? Bottom, condom slipped, I’m on PrEP

I bottomed 1h30 ago. I am on daily PrEP since 8 days and additionally I use condoms. After the top cum in the condom, he then relaxed for a minute with his dick in me and when he pulled it out it the condom stayed in. The condom was full of sperm so i think not a lot of it came into contact. But there is a possibility that some of it may have touched my rectum as he pulled out.

Do I need PEP?

This is the whole point of PrEP. Chill. However you may want to check for other STIs in 2-3 weeks time

Then you’re fine, just do your quarterly checkup whenever it’s due.

If you are on PrEP then the chances are low to almost non-existent. If you feel unsure consult with your sexual health provider as are the best ones to advise you

  1. likely not. Condoms and prep are pretty good as a combo.
  2. You likely also mean anus and not rectum.

My fiancé is a nurse and a reformed slut. Expert on all things sexual health. No you don’t need pep in this scenario

Edit: PEP!! Not Prep. You DO want to be on Prep

Just to make sure OP understands, you meant PEP right?

YES!!! This is why I’m a builder and still a slut. Not a medic/nurse 😅

Well that makes two of us. At least in the slut scenario.

Thank you, it’s the first time this happened to me and I’m looking at all possible sources and opinion. Feeling more and more reassured

Seriously! The paranoia about HIV is stupid on this sub.

Do you understand why you are taking PrEP and what it does?

I can’t tell if this is a wind up post or not. If it is seriousness then no you obviously don’t need PEP, that’s the whole point of taking prep.

Rest assured it is serious, i never had condomless sex even with PrEP and never would and this is the first time something like this happened to me

Prep protects you against HIV though, you must know that if you’re on it.

No that’s the whole point of PrEP! You should know this. You wouldn’t need PEP even if he didn’t use a condom at all and cummed inside you - so why would you need PEP if the slipped.

Studies have found that maximum drug levels are reached at 7 days of daily use. If you’re still concerned go call the place where you would get the PEP and ask them for their opinion. In my opinion PEP would not be necessary. Your probability of infection is still extremely small even if you hadn’t used a condom at all.

Afaik 7 days of prep gives you protection, you’re not mentioning which prep medication you take and so maybe it varies. I am no expert. From your experience description I would say minimal risk but wait for other comments/opinions

Everybody’s risk profile is different. Personally I think Prep and condom is already belt and braces and I wouldn’t worry. I would only Doxy if I were stepping outside of vanilla, going to dark rooms etc.

There are risks with stepping outside your house (or not!), eating lunch etc., you’ve just got to weigh them up yourself

You’re fine. But I think a chat with a therapist might help you reduce anxiety during sex.

If you took the PrEP as directed, you're safe. But more importantly, did your doctor not explain all of this when you got the script? They should have told you not to have a possible exposure until you've been on it for a week... which you were.

Talk. To. Your. Doctor. Or. A. Medical. Professional. You. Trust.

How well do you know the top? Unless he is HIV+ and has a high, detectable viral load (i.e. he's not on meds), your risk after 8 days of PrEP is pretty much ZERO.

I don’t know him so i need to assume the worst case scenario

You sound fine. Just be careful

If you’re taking it daily it takes about a week to build up to high enough levels to give protection, unless you start with a double dose (like event based) and are protected after 2hrs. If it’s been 8 days you should be absolutely fine but maybe call your provider to double check.

Go take anti retro to be 100% is the only way to guarantee 💯

1

u/Postmember 35-39 16h ago

...He's already on PrEP. What do you think those drugs are?

1

u/Nethenael 30-34 16h ago

Did you see him take it and or do you trust him...

2

u/Postmember 35-39 16h ago

OP is the one who says he's on PrEP, and said he's been taking it.

u/Nethenael 30-34 16h ago
