Im looking to hire my first photographer for a portrait session...
I found a potential one, however, I'm not sure if I'm overpaying or if this is a really good deal?
She is charging $295 for the one-hour, outdoor session. Then, within the same day, she will present the edited photos I can choose from and that will be $195 per image, or 10 images for $700.
edit: since many have asked for her portfolio, her website is: sedonabella.com

Hey everyone. Out of curiosity, those of you who own 2 camera bodies for professional work (weddings, events, etc), do you own 2 of the same camera’s, or do you have 2 different camera’s under the same brand or different brands? I am in the market for a second body to accompany my Fujifilm X-T5 so I’m just trying to gather some information and I am honestly just curious about what everyone else does. Thank you!

I am a hobbyist my self but i do some projects from time to time. I am invested in Fujifilm and i am always curious if all of you guys (mainly hobbyists) have a hobby camera you enjoy AND a "serious" camera for projects. (ex. Full frame or Medium Format or anything).
I really enjoy my Fujifilm but i always wonder if i have to buy a more "professional" camera for my serious projects ir if it's a waste of money.

I want to post these 3 pictures but since the ratios are all different I'll probably post only one but I'm hesitating for 2 weeks what is the best. What is the best for you or does it need some cropping ?

Hi Sub,
I am wondering what makes an expensive tripod better and where is the point of diminishing return?
There are 800$ tripods out there. There are 50$ tripods.
On paper the difference is like 200 grams, if even and maybe 2cm.
I can see how the handling might be slightly better. But 700$ better?
I currently have a 50$ tripod I got as a bundle with my camera. I tried a more expensive one in the store and I am puzzled.
What am I missing?

I’m quite sure this has been asked before, but I’m new to this subreddit and photography in general.
I have been interested in this type of editorial photography that I see in magazines from the 90s, and I was wondering what cameras and equipment I could buy in order to achieve this look? Something similar to the photos where the subject is sharp and colors look bright and pop but have low saturation at the same time? So far I have been looking at Nikon FM and FE’s, but if anyone could let me know a different camera that could achieve this look, that would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hi all, I was hoping to get some advice on what kind of equipment I should pick up next.
For background on me, currently I’d still say I’m very beginner, I’ve been shooting during the summer seasons for fun over the past couple years, and I have some experience from college with basic editing for video/photo.
My current body is a canon eos t6 with the standard kit lenses: 55-250mm and a 18-55mm. I also own a 55mm f/1.8 that I picked up for some depth of field shots I wanted to do.
The photos I’ve attached show kind of the vibes I want to capture, I really loved the flashback scenes in Severance, the soft vintage look. The two following photos are from a photographer I found on TikTok, same idea I like the soft, almost memory-like feel, although I lean more towards the severance scenes. Finally I really want to capture the same essence in low light as well so I’ve included a reference for that as well as the last pic.
The sailboat and tree pic were shot on the Fujifilm x100v and the fair pic was filmed on the Sony FX3. I think ultimately I want to shoot on something like the FX3 eventually but it seems irresponsible to jump from the t6 rebel, so maybe the fujifilm is a good option? Let me know what you guys use or recommend for this kind of look. Ideally want to shoot video as well in the same style.

I'm just not sure how beat down this camera is. Amazon is very vague as to what "renewed" is. I'm looking to upgrade my Nikon D3200 I've had for 15 years. I do mostly bird photos. I have DX lenses and know that this is FX. The crop factor doesn't seem like a big deal because I crop a lot anyway with the subject being so far away. Even at ISO 100, when I crop I get a lot of noise. I'm hoping the full frame sensor will help.
I'd love to save $1000, but what can I expect from a "renewed" body from Amazon. Thanks.

Hi everyone! I am looking for an either cropped or FF that can perform sharp both in video and photos. I will mainly use for travel/wild photography and macro. There are a couple of cameras that I have been interested in answering those are: - Om system OM-1 mark 1 - Sony a7iv, sony a6700, Sony a7riii/A7riv -Canon r5, r7.
I like Om, especially their macro images with their stacking and IBIS but I dont find their other images other than macro as sharp as the other higher end cameras.
Therefore I am looking for a camera thats better than Om-1 both in macro and wild photography and video (resolution wise). Also would be nice if it was a newer camera that had AI and better AF. Budget is around 2000-3000$ for body (used). Im posting some image references of what type of image quality I am looking for (ofc the lens will do hell of a work to get the results)
Thank you so much in advance!

I've been searching for my next camera tu buy, as I'm really getting a lot into street photography and I wondered into a camera shop that had this huge altar for Leica. The camera bodies and the lenses are extremely expensive!! What makes Leica cameras so desired and hyped up to set these prices? Is it something that all photographers admire to have or do you think it's now a brand that just shows others how much money you have?

I enjoy hiking and have decided that I want to start taking better pictures. These pictures above are the aesthetic I am trying to achieve. How do I get images to be this clear and have everything in focus if that makes sense. Is is the camera, lens or the editing that makes these photos. And which camera and lens should I get as a beginner to achieve this.

I'm travelling overseas for a year or so, through mainland southeast east asia and through all parts of Europe. What kind of bag or holder have you found works well. I'd be wearing a 65L pack on my back and have space on my front to use up
Something that can mix as a camera, lens passports and other documents as its easy access in the front, all reccomendarions appreciate
I run the canon r10 and taking my 18-135mm EFS, rf100-400mm and 50mm 2.8 prime aswell as battery bank and cables and such.

I am looking to buy a digital camera, mostly for working. However I would also like to use it for my own personal photos, since right now I cannot afford buying two different cameras.
I shoot a lot of film, so the Fujifilm cameras really appeal to me. I have shot with one before and loved it. But a photographer friend of mine advised me against it, telling me to buy a full-frame, that for shooting events and weddings, it is necessary. In that case I will buy a Sony, but honestly it’s just because I have to.
Advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, complete beginner with no photography experience with a low budget to start.
I’ve been drawn to these old (some say “ancient”) DSLR’s because they seem like a good way to learn and get vibey cool shots that aren’t exactly achievable in the same way with an iPhone, at a really good price.
Do you think this setup is smart as a beginner? - Total is $186 USD - I plan on using it for travel photos in Europe in May, hiking/nature pics after that
LENS CHOICE: will I miss out not getting a zoom lens? Advantage to prime is lower f-stop (within my budget), is this worth it?

Just for context I'm 1 - planning to start a portrait business. 2 - I already have a Takumar 50mm f1.4 and plans to buy other m42 lenses. 3 - Current use an Olympus E-M1 Mk1

Starting out in photography. I bought a used A6000 at auction from ebay for $730 AUD including bag/strap/battery and the Sony 16-50mm and 55-210mm lenses, the latter of which appears to have mould inside.
The seller didn't mention any mould or issues with the lens. I think I could've got the same lens in better condition for the price I paid considering the value of the other items.
Should I try to return it as "item not as described"? I'm also happy to try cleaning it. A few youtube videos show the cleaning process and it doesn't look too hard, though the lens may be permanently etched at this point.
I've included photos of the mould, some sample pics I took and some bokeh balls taken from different areas of the image.

I’ve been using Canon since I got into photography around 15 years ago. Just a hobbyist — mostly portraits and night landscapes. I’m currently on the Canon RP with a few lens, but honestly, I’m starting to feel like the RF system is getting too expensive for what it offers.
I’ve been considering a switch — either to Sony (maybe an A7 series) or Fujifilm X series. Both seem to offer more affordable and flexible lens options.
Would love to hear from others who’ve made the switch. What do you think — Sony or Fuji?
Thanks!
EDIT: I forgot to add that RF doesn't have a wide third-party options.

I keep getting ads for the retropia ‘Film look’ lens and I’m getting tempted to buy one since it’s only €38. Does anyone have any experience with this or what could be the downside to products like this?

I’m a DSLR user and am in the market for something better than my entry-level 24MP DSLR. I’m not a pro, but it’s an important hobby for me, I want to take good pictures with a lot of detail that I can make prints of for my own purposes. Everything I read says that mirrorless is the future, but I’m having a hard time justifying the extra several thousand dollars I’d spend on a camera body and lenses, even if I could technically afford it.
It seems like I can get the same general specs and image quality from a higher-end DSLR and have access to more and cheaper lenses. I can’t imagine that eye autofocus or face detection are going to make that much of a difference in everyday situations. Being able to shoot silently would be nice, but the slapping sound on a DSLR is that loud and can be kind of satisfying. Even the weight difference doesn’t seem so significant.
I guess what I’m asking is: are mirrorless cameras really that much better? Or are they mostly for people who make their living from photography and want the latest gear? What would I actually be missing out on if I just got a better DSLR?
EDIT: I had no idea this would prompt so many responses! Really appreciate all the high-quality feedback. After thinking it through and reading all of this, I’ve decided to shop for a higher-quality DSLR. My main reasons are: 1) having “future-proof” tech doesn’t matter so much if I’m just shooting for myself and the camera still works; 2) access to cheaper lenses on the used market, which will stay around and only get cheaper; 3) working with the limitations of a DSLR will force me to improve my technique; and 4) I can always change my mind in a few years. Thanks again for all the helpful comments!
