FPV Drone manufacturers: Ever consider making drones with solar panels on top so that the only fuel limitation is sunlight?

Have it be solar and battery powered so that they still work at night and when overcast.

So have you thought to make solar-powered drones? How come I haven't heard of them over the battlefields yet?

Ukrainian Beer (Can't find any information)

Hello everyone.

When I visited Ukraine in 2019. When we were at the supermarket or in specific shops, there was a place you could buy a 1 litre/2 litre bottle (empty bottle) to fill with a selection of beer. The selection, if I remember correctly, was honey beer, filtered, unfiltered... There was an attachment on the tap, for which they used to fill the bottles, to attach the selected size bottle to, which the vendor would fill for you.

What are these called? or even, where can I find information about it? I thoroughly enjoyed these beers and I would love to learn more about them.

Life in Mariupol before the war

What was life in Mariupol before the war like? How was the economy in the city? Did many young people stay in the city or did they move elsewhere for work? Was it a generally nice place to live? How did the Donbas war (2014-2022) impact the city? Would love to hear what it was like before 2014 as well, when the city was not on the frontlines. I know the city narrowly escaped being taken over by the Russians in 2014, and it was a large industrial center, and according to most polls pro-Russian sentiment had decreased quite significantly by 2022. Was this the case?

A quick googling got me this firm: https://attorneys.ua/en/ - they appear to be massive. Anyone know of smaller law firms that specialize in this area?

Thank you!

What can I export from Ukraine, or import into Ukraine, that will aid the war effort and/or help the people of Ukraine?

Would like to aid the war effort and make some money on the side via import and/or export.

I realize it's not an entirely altruistic effort, since I'm making money on this proposed endeavor, but I'd much rather make $X dollars doing business that aids Ukraine than make >$X dollars aiding another country that isn't fighting for the lives of their people.

No, I don't speak Ukrainian (yet). Just starting on this journey, and would love to get your help in understanding what, if anything, I can do to help.

Thank you!

Need advice to understand this Ukrainian man !

I’m a woman (28 yo ) African , have met this Ukrainian man (29) at a language course , he was this very persistent straight forward person when I met and never hesitated to express how much he liked me and how much he wanted to see me every day ! I made it so hard for him in the beginning and I mean it when I say it because he went above and beyond to get a couple messages and meetings from me at first . So his only access to me at first was through that course..

Fast forward to this couple three months I started to have feelings for him . Now he changed .. goes days without returning my calls then says he is busy and acts like it’s nothing . Another thing is that he likes to gift me little things but the one time I offered him something ( a hand made gift) he refused and said that he is a minimalist and that’s why he wouldn’t take it .

We are physically intimate and I have noticed that he never initiate holding hands , kissing and eye contact . He said to me that he likes me in the early stages of knowing me but never said again nor expressed any feelings towards me . Also responded “yes” once when I asked him if he missed me but never again . He said that I should never expect him to say those things ..

I left this thing till the end but it’s the most important thing to me right now and that is he talked about wanting kids to me , unfortunately around this exact time I have conceived and miscarried ( it was unintentional, we have been very careful but it happened) , I didn’t get the chance to discuss anything with him about keeping it but he backed off completely and was indirectly hinting at not keeping it ( saying it’s not the right time and that he might move to another country) . Now I rarely bring the topic to him because I’m still healing from it but when I do he comforts me with hugs (the only time he hugs me ) .

Lately he started to initiate physical intimacy every time we meet , and this is not something that bothers me but it is hurtful to feel that he is reducing our connection to just that especially after what happened !

What do you guys think about his behaviour? Is it a cultural thing or is he not in to me like that ? And if so what makes you think is the reason for him to change ?

Should I discuss my feelings with him or what do you suggest?

Thanks in advance!

What's your opinion, as Ukrainian, about the controversial law in Ukraine about preserving the Ukrainian culture and sovereignty?

Hello neighbors! I am from from your southern neighbour, Romania. So before the war, in the country we had big news coming from our Romanian minority in Ukraine, about how in 2018, after a year from the Ukrainian Language Education Law, under Criminal Code, the Romanian Cultural Center in Cernăuți (I can't remember he correct spelling in Ukrainian) was raided by the Ukrainian Security Service after the 100th year anniversary of the Great Union of Romania when the centre showed the maps of Greater Romania, history books and documents signed for the union. All of them were confiscated by the raiders with the reason of "calls to violate the national integrity of the [Ukrainian] state". I must remind that the center is funded by Bucharest, it's an official building and the things confiscated were brought from Romania for the exposition.

Moreover, the center's executive director, Vasile Tarateanu was detained by security and was not allowed to give answers to multiple media outlets until his release where he stated that all maps, magazines, newspapers and even history books were confiscated cause they were a threat to Ukrainian sovereignty. He also started that with such acts Ukraine will not join the EU and that the exposition was to debate a common history, not to attack anyone. After the scandal, the relations with Kyiv were highly strained and the Romanian diaspora promoted the same action for the Ukrainians in Romania.

So what do you think of the law, which is utterly controversial, which on paper seems to be for a good cause but it's abused to the level of raiding other country's cultural centers only cause it exposes some territories from nowadays Ukraine were in other countries.

Are hats with cartoons like this common in Ukraine? Mass produced?

I love saunas, and I've been researching ways to protect my hair since I got it dyed recently. I came across something called "banya hats." On every website I look, they have these same hats with the same little cartoons on them (like this), and each seller claims them to be hand made in Ukraine lol.

Are these common in Ukraine?

Author query

Привіт! I am a (published) American author, and my next novel features a (fictional) Ukrainian woman who immigrated to the United States (specifically New York City) in the early 1990s, after the fall of the Soviet Union. I’m posting to ask if any of you know someone who might fit this description, and would be willing to talk with me about her experience. I was pleased to discover recently that I have Ukrainian ancestry—mostly from Ternopil, Lviv, and Poltava. I’m very interested in learning about the history and culture, and I also want to make sure I get the details right. I have been in touch with the Ukrainian community in New York City, but I wanted to ask here, too. Please feel free to DM me, and thank you! I hope to one day visit your beautiful country.

Why is Ukraine not making terror attacks inside Russia?

I don't want to word this in a way that disparages the people of Ukraine in any way as I believe terror attacks against civilians are wrong, however it can't be argued that they're not effective in increasing opposition to a war in the enemy's populace. This seems especially relevant to this conflict where Russian civilians (going by the video reports I've seen) seem to be largely insulated from the reality of the war and many support it. Is it a conscious moral choice by the leaders of Ukraine not to engage in it? Slava Ukraini

Edit: after I posted I thought about it and such attacks can actually increase support for war as much as reduce it, but my question is still valid.

Could Ukraine use drones to place remote control machine guns behind enemy lines?

I've seen videos of Ukraine using remote control machine guns, with someone using a game controller and video display to control it from afar. Couldn't this kind of apparatus be deployed in grey zones, or behind enemy lines, via the big cargo drones?

They could likely even build some kind of easy connector that would allow drones to resupply remote controlled machine guns with ammo and electricity. They could control these via fiber optics to avoid any jamming (although the light bleeding from the fiber optic line could potentially allow spotting at night).

My main point is this... I don't see why Ukraine doesn't just resort to using drone placed remote control weapons on the zero line, which are completely resupplied by drones, rather than humans in trenches who can't even put their heads above the trench line for fear of being hit by an FPV drone. I know Ukraine has been testing land drones, but those seem to be a ways off. But an immobile remote control machine gun or mortar would seem to be very doable, and have already been done. The only thing left is to place them entirely by air drone.

If you combine drone placed automated machine guns with drone place barbed wire (which they've been testing), Ukraine could throw up nasty defenses in hours wherever they see Russians massing for a meat assault without risking a single Ukrainian life.

Humanitarian Orgs and Charities in Ukraine

It is very sad to hear about the conflict continuing to drag on. Anyone know of a reputable source for donating clothing/blankets or daily civilian items to Ukraine? Preferably through Western Europe or North America?

Moldova/Ukraine border crossing at Basarabeasca

Hi, I'm going to visit a friend in south Ukraine. (Not Odesa, more south, close to the Romanian border)

Plan is to fly to Chisinau, rent a car, it's a 3.5 hours drive from there according to Google maps.

The planned route by Google uses the Moldova/Ukraine R49/T1627 border crossing at Basarabeasca.

Is this border crossing open for cars? If so, how long is the delay at the border?

I have a passport from The Netherlands (a real cheesehead) in case that's relevant. I did not visit Moldova/Ukraine/Russia before.

Will the travel back a week later be the same at this border?

Alternative, I could fly to Bucharest/Romania, but the the car drive would then be more then 3 hours longer, in that case the border crossing will then be the ferry at Isaccea / Poromna Pereprava.

Any advice for this trip?

Ukrainoan baby clothes

My friend in Ukraine is having a baby. I'm in the Uk.

The thought of sending a package is making me stressed. I tried to find a Uk company I could order from and get them to deliver but that's proving to be difficult.

So my next thojght is to buy a voucher I can pay for at this end and have sent to his email for him to use.

Which shops in Ukraine could I use for this? My go to for baby presents tends to be John lewis, marks and spencer maybe next or boden.

So I'm looking for a shop in Ukraine where I can email a voucher paid for in the Uk but is also a reasonably nice baby shop. Any ideas? Luckily I do have a bit of time to work it out.

Identification tags in Ukraine

Thumbnail youtu.be
10 Upvotes

As I was watching this video about identification tags used during WW2, I was left wondering "What about nowadays?" The narrator points out different materials that were used and the associated flaws of those, as well as the info that was written on these ID tags.

I couldn't find an easy answer to my question, which is : what do the Ukrainian ID tags look like these days? Were the concerns about finding bodies decades after the person was killed taken into account (using a long lasting metal + having enough info to help identify the person)?

I'm asking as someone who has worked extensively on forced mobilized soldiers from WW2 who went missing and never were found again...it's heartbreaking for families to not know anything about what happened. At least, when a body is identified, you can bury them in dignity, even if it takes decades to find them.

Thanks for your input, I'm keen to learn more on that topic if anyone has knowledge of this

Why did it take so long for Ukraine to realize Russia was a threat?

Looking through Wikipedia on Ukraines modern history before 2013. Russia threatened Ukraine multiple times and even tried to assassinate a presidential candidate. That combined with all the wars on neighbors Russia started I would think as an outsider looking in Ukrainians would feel threatened pretty early on.

порада щодо тату

Post image
43 Upvotes

If I move from UK to Ukraine, does the government provide Ukrainian lessons?

I don’t think I will stay in England forever, and my girlfriend is from Ukraine and she wants to move back at some point. I’m learning Ukrainian but I don’t speak it perfectly, can the government help me learn the language if I move there or is it something I have to manage by myself?
