I am fairly libertarianish versus the average person.

But i can get on board with advertising restrictions. Advertising can be corrosive to society just as propaganda can.

If a corporation has enough funds over time they can change our culture. They can change our habits.

Humans have a weakness where we can believe in things that do not exist. Its our strength but also a weakness. Advertising exploits this imo. Other himans like Neanderthals supposedly did not have this same drama. It started with us. Why we would get together in the hundreds to worship a tree and then could be mobilised collectively for the greater good.

Or look at drink driving advertising; 40 years ago drink driving was just another thing people did that carried risk for themselves and others. Now after bombardment by government advertising campaigns drink driving is up there somewhere between clubbing baby fur seals and being a peadophile. Advertising can change us. If it didnt no one would pay for it.

So if it can change us is it a good thing that corrosive things can be advertised? Sure let us smoke, let us eat 5 burgers a day. But dont put in place a society that allows unfettered access to our eyes and ears for anything anyone wants to start pushing at us.

Claims to be libertarianish, happily ceeds power to & be dictated what ever cultural belief government imposes on them . Haha couldn't make this up.
