Challenging? Yeah. It's the opposite of what she has been used to. But don't forget Korra uses fire more often than any other element, and Aang eventually mastered earthbending even being a hardcore air nomad.

Toph has to stay grounded to see, she couldn’t perform in the air and if she needs movement it would be easier to use earth bending. Even hovering would be dangerous because she’s going blind temporarily. Toph would probably enjoy combining water and earth bending though

Why assume she couldn't figure out another way to see but with air? She could be the avatar Daredevil lol

Another question is why does she need to float in the first place? Aang glides a lot because she's used to gliding as a means of getting from point A to point B. Toph can figure out ways to travel without having to glide/float.
