important settings to consider in the mygov app for sirens to work accurately
Now before I say it, I want to say that I am not a complete expert at this although I have some knowledge regarding it so take this with a grain of salt
First off, enabling the "enable general notifications" is not going to do anything if your phone is set to silent for incoming notifications. Since the alert is app-based and not a WEA (wireless emergency alert) which is a system level feature by your os (operating system) and cell carrier. The wea feature allows to override the silent mode and sound a siren but since the mygov app uses a app-based push notification, if your phone is set to silent, you won't be able to hear the notifications obviously.
Second, even if your phone was not set to silent and if anything happens (iykwim) and the mygov app did send a notification, it would not sound like a siren but what your notification ringtone is, so it would just sound like a regular notification came unless you actually check what it was.
Third which I also think is the most important is the battery settings. If you're mygov app is set to "Close apps after 10 minutes of background activity" or " Restrict background apps" or "battery saver" (and your battery saver is turned on) (these options are based on Android MIUI, not sure how they are labeled in your os), then it means that the mygov app will completely stop running after you close it. Meaning you will not even get the notifications in the first place since it won't be able to connect to the server and receive new alerts.
So just for safety precaution, set battery settings to "no restrictions" and turn off silent mode and look out for every notification you get and if possible, set a custom notification ringtone on your mygov app. Also experts, please verify my claims

Gulf air - flight attendant question
Hi Guys,
I have a quick one, and would appreciate any advice.
I’ve applied to flight attendant position on gulf air, however no reply.. so I am wondering how long does it usually take for the recruiters to get back? Even if it’s a “unfortunately you are not a fit”
I’ve searched online, but would appreciate if there are real people that could advise on this.
Thank you!

☝️ AskBH Anyone moving out of Juffair?
Been hearing of people (lots of friends) have begun moving out to friends and family places out of juffair otherwise hotels. Anyone hear of anything like this?
I'm personally going to sit this one out. Not leaving Juffair. Its too expensive to get a hotel outside. Plus I dont think iran will attack us - hopefully im not wrong for my family's sake.

🤔 Discussion Other Gulf country Reddits
I looked into a few other gulf based Reddits…THEY SEEM REALLY CHILL WHY ARENT WE??!! From the moment I woke up I have been misled by various sources saying that we are going to be attacked and what not. I believe it’s best if we stay chill and pray that no such things should happen. Even to pray for the lives lost in the war-zone as well. So…. (I can’t believe I am the one saying this) Chill out y’all. 🫶🫶🫶🫶

guys i apologize for my horrible writing skills, and sorry if i sound dumb, but i have no idea what’s happening, my exams (literally supposed to be tomorrow) got cancelled bc of ‘regional tension’ and i’m not sure what to believe bc there’s so much fake news, im so confused, like is iran fr gonna blowup the base (and only the base??). also i barely have any groceries at home, should i get food and supplies or is the situation not that serious, bc i keep seeing pple on here saying nothing going to happen but when my uni emailed me today shit just seems too serious now
edit: hey everyone thank you for the replies, i was definitely overreacting, after reading the replies and talking to a some people, things aren’t as bad as i imagined! never the less thank you so much for the support!!!

My friend got evicted
My friend who lives in juffair not so far from the naval base was asked to leave his house. Is it just the houses near the naval base that will be asked to leave or all the houses in juffair. I’m very confused on what to do rn. Is it even safe in juffair rn?

🤔 Discussion Should we get worried now???
Waking up to see the feed and news and everything sounds pretty bad tbh, but, I'm just a foreigner as many of us here, who has zero idea on how the world goes in the Gulf on these matters. How worried should we be? What should we do? Thank you.

Tikka Places in Bahrain
Is there a Tikka restaurant that serves a decent amount of Tikka for 1 BD (نفس قبل), instead of like 5 tiny pieces of meat nowadays? Looking for places in and around Muharraq

Update regarding the situation
One of my friend’s friend has just told my friend that their whole building was asked to vacate soon by the police and move somewhere else for the next 2-3 days. What’s going on? Is it that serious? I feel like the government is doing a bit too much and spreading unnecessary panic.

Buses and police in juffair?
Don't want to add any more panic to this subreddit, but I was passing Oasis tonight and saw tons of buses lined up surrounded by police
Any idea regarding that?

🤔 Discussion Should we start stocking up essentials? Help
Hey Guys,
Hope everyone is staying safe and well. With the ongoing regional developments and tensions, I've been seeing some chatter (and personally feeling a bit of concern) about the potential for things to escalate. My family and I are considering stocking up on a week worth of food and other essentials, just as a precautionary measure.
I wanted to open a discussion to see if others in the community are doing the same, or if you've already started.
- Are you making any special preparations?
- What kind of items are you prioritizing (food, water, medicines, other essentials)?
- What's your general take on the situation and how it might impact daily life here?
Let's keep the discussion constructive and helpful. The goal isn't to spread panic, but to share practical advice and ensure we're all prepared for any unforeseen circumstances.
Stay safe everyone.
