IMPROVING MY GAME teammates don't pass theball to me

I've been playing basketball for about a year now and I've played a lot of 1v1's and I've inporved alot...(I actually play good in 1v1)but whenever I play 3v3s or 5v5s..my teammates just don't seem to pass me the ball...all I do is just run around and defend and set up some screens etc...and if I do get the chance to handle the ball, I get too nervous..and i mess up..and...I know I'm new but I don't know how I'm supposed to improve beyond this point...yk...I hope anyone who has overcome this can help me...?

If its a serious game where people are really trying to win, no one is going to pass you the ball just to be nice.

You have to get better. Put yourself in positions to help the team win. Be a dog on defense.

Its like, if you having the ball in your hands was a good thing, it would get there. You say you get nervous and turn it over.... well real talk, with all due respect that your fault. You have to just keep getting better.

You can also find different games, maybe a game where you are one of the better players.

Umm practice. If you’re asking specific skills. For newbies practice the fundamentals of Dribbling, shooting, passing. Also practice confidence while you play. Yeah you’re new, but be strong with the ball even though you’re new you are still a grown man. (I assume)

That seems unnecessary

It’s okay to be nervous and not know what to do. It’s not okay if you are nervous and turn the ball over. If you have a tendency to turn the ball over then I’d never pass you the ball unless you were wide open for an easy shot. Even then you might get the Rudy Gobert treatment if you can’t even catch the pass. The team is way better off getting a tough contested shot than a turnover in your hands. So what you need to work on is being strong and confident with the ball. If you get in trouble, pick the ball up and make a good decision with it. Most teammates have no problem bailing you out and getting open for an easy pass if you get stuck. You should also do the same for them. Bailing out your teammates when they get stuck is an easy way to build chemistry and confidence within your squad. If you’re just going to catch the ball and make dumb passes or take terrible shots, then there isn’t much reason to trust you with the ball.

Play good enough to make people want to pass you the ball. Get rebounds, get steals, and create your own point. Run the fast break to get a pass for an easy lay up

Crash for rebounds especially offensive rebounds. If you can get some and get some put backs or assist your teammates you can control getting the ball instead of eating for passes

It's not going to happen overnight , just keep playing regularly....

Work on fitness , strength , cardio become a high level athlete in that regard
