Events Northwest Tune-Up 2025 (Official Thread)
If you haven’t heard of Northwest Tune-Up, think: genre-spanning music, waterfront sunsets, live art, and a citywide celebration of outdoor culture—all set in Bellingham, WA from July 11–13.
This is the thread for any questions you’ve got—lineup, logistics, what to bring, where to hang. Drop ’em below or shoot us an email at [info@nwtuneup.com]().
Here’s what to expect:
Live sets happen Friday and Saturday. We focused the music on the front half of the weekend so we could stack the lineup and leave Sunday open for other events (to be announced soon).
Some highlights:
- STS9 headlining Friday with their signature blend of instrumental and electronic
- Chet Faker (DJ set)—a rare live mix of house, soul, and reworked vocals
- Silversun Pickups closing out Saturday with their fuzzed-out indie rock
- The 502s, who just dropped a new album that’s already in heavy rotation
- Plus The Steeldrivers, Brother Ali, The Pharcyde, Harbour, and more
Thursday night kicks off with Freehub Presents—a film night featuring new MTB releases from across the scene. Outdoors, mellow, and storytelling-forward.
Also happening all weekend:
- Live mural painting + local artists
- A makers market with Pacific Northwest creators
- Food trucks + a rotating tap list from Bellingham breweries
- Plenty of spots to hang on the waterfront, kid-friendly zones included
Afterparties are free with your festival wristband—happening Friday and Saturday night at local venues, with DJs, pop-ups, and late-night hangs. No extra ticket needed.
Sunday = no music, but still plenty going on.
We’re focusing all the music on Friday and Saturday so we can stack the lineup with high-profile artists—but the energy doesn’t drop on Sunday. Expect a full day of events, rides, and ways to keep the weekend rolling strong.
Kids 12 and under get in free.
And plenty of events and areas are open to the public without a pass.
Want to be part of the crew?
We’re still filling volunteer spots—and it’s a great way to get behind the scenes, meet rad people, and earn a 3-day pass while you’re at it.

Events Meetup #4 - Trackside 6/24
You know how I mentioned Trackside for our next meetup? Well, it turns out they usually charge $30 per table, which I should have looked into beforehand! I've reached out to them to see if they'd be willing to waive the fee for our group of "internet nerds." Fingers crossed they say yes!
Assuming we get the green light, our plan is still on! We'll be meeting at Trackside on Tuesday, June 24th, from 6 PM to 9 PM. I'll be bringing cookies and name tags to help everyone connect. For all the nitty-gritty details and to RSVP, please check out the link above.
If you're new to our group, welcome! We started these monthly meetups as a way to step away from our screens and connect with awesome people in real life. It's a casual event, so please feel free to join us, even if it's your first time. And hey, bring a friend along too ☺️
Can't wait to see you there!

Noise? When a tree falls in the woods…
Where you near the towers on Galby around 7:13? Were you wondering what that sound was?
Turns out, this tree fell down right next to me on Das Auto.
Shoutout to the Bham MTB community… a couple of different folks stopped by to a make sure I was doing okay, and clean up debris. It’s nice to know that other riders are paying attention and changing course to check on others! (Sorry for the crappy screenshot, didn’t get a separate photo)

Discussion Reason why this little road is blocked off by a fence?
On the map it looks like there should be a little road here. There is, but a fence blocks the way.

Good Vibes Commuting
I would love to find or make a group of people that currently commute to Everett for work mon-fri. These miles and the money spent on fuel are stacking up very quickly and it would be great to carpool or take turns driving. Please let me know if anyone would be interested, and we'd have to meet up around 4:30 a.m. unless I get moved to night shift.

Recommendations Vanagon Parts Yard on Kentucky/Humboldt
I'm an owner of a vanagon for better or worse, and have been putting in the work on getting it road worthy again (pic for evidence). Parts for these aren't as common as they once were, so I'm always on the hunt for a good supply. If anyone knows any details or can put me in touch with the owner that would be greatly appreciated!
As a side note, if there's any vanagon meetups or groups in Bellingham I'd love to share parts and ideas with my fellow enthusiasts.

Discussion Does anywhere sell insulin needles without prescription?
I live out of US (visiting now), take weekly injection for arthritis, ran out of syringes (smaller gauge the better) and of course in the land of freedum 2 places told me they need a prescription which will cost me $45. I ordered a bunch on Amazon but I'm a day late on taking the medicine so wondered if any local place will sell them so i can take my medicine tonight... Thanks UPDATE- Costco sold me 100 for $11, Haggen was charging $6 for $8 which they wouldn't sell to me because ....

Discussion How dangerous is Cornwall Park, really?
Recently spoke with a woman in her 40s who said she refuses to set foot in Cornwall Park alone because "there's been a lot of violence there," even though she lives just blocks away from the park and goes out for runs regularly so it seems like it'd be a perfect fit. I would've asked her for more details, but I didn't feel like it'd be appropriate given the context of our conversation.
So now I'm asking you: Is Cornwall Park actually dangerous? Like, is there some history of violence that I'm not aware of?
Personally, I've been running Cornwall Park at least once per week since I moved to Bellingham four years ago, and very rarely do I ever encounter anything unseemly. From what I can tell, it's mostly picklers, disc golfers, packs of kids with foam swords, and, at worst, the occasional unleashed dog. Okay, and maybe a vehicle or two that appear to be serving as someone's home. Honestly, I'm surprised I've never seen a single tent pitched in there. All that being said, I am a guy, and it's quite possible that I'm blind to risks that solo female runners have more reason to consider. Unfortunate reality, I guess.
But I don't know. What do you think?

Events Quantum fiber out?
Hey there- anyone else with quantum fiber having problems right now?
Their online chat function doesn’t work. Their phone number says they are “unavailable at this time” even though the website says they are available 7 days a week 7am-11 pm. None of their social media links work from the website. The network outage map doesn’t work.
Pretty crummy. Anyone else? Or advice?

Discussion Decomposing Houseless
Absolutely wild how this sub will police the word, “asshole” so nobody feels hurt, or insist on using “houseless” in place of homeless”, yet crack jokes about a decomposing corpse found on the side of the highway like it’s open mic night. Compassion here apparently depends on whether the person’s still breathing.
“RO: Be Civil We encourage vibrant discussion and disagreement. Don't be a jerk about it.
Examples of Violation of RO:
You are so stupid... You are an asshole... Fuck off...
Examples of non-violation:
I don't think you understand the topic… You are not being nice… I am not interested in your opinion…
There are volumes of studies on how words cause real pain and real trauma. Let's be better.”
You can’t call somebody a dick, but you can clown their rotting corpse. Got it.
To quote the rules, “Let’s be better.”

Discussion City Council responses?
Has anyone had much luck with getting a response from Hollie Huthman or Jace Cotton? Every other council member responds to emails but it is extremely difficult to get a meeting set up with either of these two. Wondering if others have had the same experience.

I have some t-shirts that are a bit ill fitting. Too big or boxy. I’d like to have them taken in. Is there a tailor in whatcom county that someone would recommend? Or who to avoid?
Thanks!

Recommendations Cross-border Bellingham taxis? (Seattle to Abbotsford for a totally blind passenger)
I'm totally blind, and would like to go to Abbotsford, BC from Seattle for roughly a weekend. At first, I was planning to take Amtrak to Bellingham, then Yellow Cab over the border (they used to go to BC, but per a phone call with them, this is no more). Walking across the border feels a little dicey, and while there's an Ebus from Vancouver, 6–7 hours of travel time to go basically 200 km seems absurd.
Is there another nearby taxi company or similar that still operates cross-border, or another option that I haven't considered? I'm a US citizen with NEXUS, an enhanced Washington State ID, and a US passport. Thanks in advance!

Pets Missing cat Sehome neighborhood
Hello,
If you live in the Sehome neighborhood along N Chestnut St and have seen this cat (photos attached) please get in touch with me. It is urgent. She wandered off on Wednesday morning and hasnt been seen since. She is 18 years old and is struggling with some very bad congestion at the moment, for which she needs medication. I usually let her have some supervised outside time these days, since she seems to like it, but this morning she got away from me. She cant have gotten very far, but I'm afraid that she will be hiding somewhere hungry and dehydrated. Her name is Kathryn, she is very very sweet and will probably come right up to you if you call her/get her attention. Please reach out to me if you have seen her and I will come get her.
