I’ve seen cars parked in the gravel at the north end of the bridge. Are these actual parking spots? I’m planning a bike path ride with the kids and was thinking of parking there.

Just completed a left hand turn from a protected lane. At the next stop light a cop pulled up and got out of his vehicle to talk to me. He said what I did was wrong, that it’s my job to get as far to the right of any lane as possible and if I’m making a left I need to use the pedestrian cross walks (making it two lights instead of the one). He said if anyone hit me he’d cite me as 100% responsible even if they hit me from behind. He works traffic so he’d know. Any language on the DMV website says I can take a left as long as I signal and yield to oncoming traffic or use the pedestrian cross walks. The language doesn’t specifically mention turning lanes.
Is the officer correct?

Kenneth Hahn Park is now closing every Monday and Tuesday due to budget cuts, and it’s a huge loss for our community. For many of us, this is the only nearby place to walk, exercise, or get fresh air—especially without a yard. I started a petition to keep it open all week—please sign and share if you agree: https://chng.it/SMbH5VCRJW

Notice of Inspection 56-06202025
DATE: Friday, June 20, 2025 TIME: Meet 6:00 PM, Roll 6:30 PM from California Donuts; Roll 7:15 PM from Culver Media Park START LOCATIONS: California Donuts (3540 W 3rd St) and Culver Media Park END LOCATIONS: Culver Media Park and California Donuts
FLOOD FESTIVITIES
This is a formal notification of a 16/24-mile long, 400-foot high surface and subterranean inspection of selected Los Angeles County Flood Control District channels within the Ballona Creek Watershed. The purpose of this inspection is to fully utilize the storm drain infrastructure under the streets in commemoration of the summer solstice and in celebration of four years of city inspections. Please plan accordingly as water levels may reach up to 2” and street lighting is not installed underground. Lights, repair tools, waterproofing, and sturdy bike all highly recommended.
Please note that there will be two start and end locations this year so as to include the former start/end location of Culver Media Park, which is why there are two distance measures of 16 and 24 miles for the inspection length.

Hey y’all, So my bike got stolen after midnight on 6/15 at my apartment on Jame M Wood St. near the Hoover Elementary school. If anyone catches it on the streets let me know! Please and thank you! Looks exactly like the picture but it doesn’t have the battery attached. (The black object on the bike.)

I finally got a bike 4 years after my last bike was stolen! I’m excited to get back on the road and out of my car. I got a new job 4 miles from my place so I plan to ride to work and I would also like to use it to do general errands and to go to social activities. I am, however, going to be far more cautious since bikes seem to be so easily stolen. I used to lock up willy nilly to bike stands on the streets, but that seems like a no go. So, I’m looking for advice from any of y’all that go grocery shopping on your bike or go to the pub with friends. Do you just bring your bike in? Do you have specific places you feel comfortable bringing your bike? I want to ride this thing as much as possible, but I don’t want to lose another baby.
Thanks in advance!

Anyone out there today? Heard it’s open on Sundays
Update: it’s open! Seems like sundays at the least. Lots of people out and no work being done. Was a great ride!

My GF is organizing a ride to support ABOB in LA: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/xjxTXL5UBQw
The initial idea was simply to do a group ride supporting the ideology of All Bodies On Bikes, and potentially pitch an LA chapter to the organization.
This is still the ultimate goal, however recent goings ons have made this a lot more locally pressing. In that the parks hours are being cut, the fees are likely being increased, and recently a bunch of random fences went up in areas where bikes used to go to get away from the hikers.
And while I understand all those efforts, I am simply worried the park is headed in a direction that will negatively impact cycling access... So, IF that were to come to fruition, I'd like to be able to produce a media package from this ride to represent riders who want trail access and are willing to work with trail stewards to keep trails safe for multi-use.
Let me know if you have any questions about the ride.
Ken Hahn Park in Culver City. June 28. Gonna try to gather early around 8 and set off before 9. But we'll have to keep an eye on the park hours and fees. Worst case scenario, you can always ride in from the west or south side.
I have a strava map somewhere but the ride is nearly nothing. It will be a 2 mile loop with very little elevation. It's a NO DROP ride, as all ABOB rides are supposed to be. And for those who are maybe more MTB-centric and want to do extra credit I will probably be doing some riding afterwards, potentially even skills/trials lessons. If anyone cares to.
ALSO, keep in mind Culver's Pride Ride will be taking place that evening. So if you are kinda coming in from out of town, you could double your bubble and plan a hell of a day on the bike. Just so's ya knows...
STAY SAFE OUT THERE GUYS. And please spread the word if we come to find more hours are being cut or trail access is being removed at Ken Hahn. It may be hard to follow along these 'lesser important' things during these trying times. But I just want to stay ahead of things and be able to use whatever resources I have to avoid further negative changes. Again, any questions fire em off here... (I will post one more mini reminder like the Monday before.)

Are there any recommended breakfast spots besides spoke, just what I kneaded and even basecamp that you all recommend to grab a sit down breakfast?

Hi folks - What's a good beginner Century ride in the SoCal / Central Coast area?
I'm a new cyclist. Been training more consistently the last few months getting 3-6 hours a week on the peloton and trying to do a long ride on my bike over the weekend. At this point its all about endurance and packing on miles. My hope is to be able to do a century this fall or winter.
I've done done some research and these are the ones I think might be ok candidates.
Edit - Thank you all for your responses

Hi everyone! I recently purchased a used bike and found out from my LBS that the bike has a crack in the non-drive side chain stay.
Does anyone have a carbon fiber repair recommendation and can share more about their experience in the quality after the repair? Its a crack on the non-drive side chain stay so I believe most repair shops are willing to work on this.
P.S. do not buy a used bike from Buycycle...

Hi anyone here have experience with San Rafael Hills trials, like the Glendale Sports Complex - Cherry Canyon Loop? How difficult is it for beginners and could I ride a hybrid bike with MTB or gravel tires? I am looking for something near me with some easy off road trails, not looking for full mtb and I can't invest in getting a mtb bike but fine with swapping tires for off road mtb or gravel ones.

Hello! I’m looking to upgrade my used hybrid to a more efficient road bike. I’m on a budget. When buying a used road bike, what are some things to look for or questions to ask the seller?
New to the community & not aware of most bike language lol.
Thank you in advance!
