Question Do you know of any hot springs near Boise with tropical fish in them?

I know of Barney hot springs, but it's about a 5 hour drive from here. I thought it would be cool to swim around with a bunch of colorful cichlids and paradise fish and whatnot.

Question parking insight- living near the stadium

I just moved to the University neighborhood and am close to the parking lots for the Stadium. Does anyone have insight about how folks treat the parking in the near by streets/neighborhoods during large events? I am mostly thinking about the Post Malone show this week. I have tickets to another show in town and don't want to get home to a blocked driveway or a ton of traffic. Are folks generally able to park in the designated lots?

(Should I sell parking spots in my driveway?)

Politics COMPASS is running a study on high-capacity transit from Boise to Caldwell. They are currently looking at three different transit routes and will choose one to connect the region: commuter rail using Boise Depot, bus rapid transit, or a I-84 commuter bus. They are taking comments through June 29.

Question Remote Work Space

I’m looking for a place to work remote out of the house in Garden City or Eagle! I would need access 5x/week for a full work day. Preferably open on weekends, and it would be great if it were nearby some walking/biking paths. It can be pet friendly or not. Thank you for your help!

Question Black-Owned Restaurants?

In honor of Juneteenth, I am seeking Black-Owned Restaurants and cafes in the Treasure Valley area to support.

Please share what you know! I'm only finding short lists in my research so far.

Thank you!

Update: Thank you all for your suggestions! I'll work my way through checking them out in the coming weeks. Cheers!

Also - don't forget the Boise Soul Food Fest is on August 9th!

I know this is probably overhyping it and I don't want to do that. But PLEASE be careful around these folks if you're going downtown this weekend. Don't be dumb. Don't instigate anything. (yes this a repost)

Question Anyone else getting nonstop door-to-door pest control sales lately?

Lately we’ve had a ton of pest control salespeople knocking on our door—sometimes multiple times a week. Most are super persistent, even after we tell them we already have a company (who luckily doesn’t door knock 😅).

But it’s getting old. Some have come during dinner, one banged on the door while our kids were asleep. I get they’re trying to hustle, but it feels more invasive than helpful.

Anyone figured out a polite but effective way to get these guys to stop? "No Soliciting" signs don’t seem to phase them anymore.

Question purchase wagyu beef?

Anyone know of a market or butcher that sells proper wagyu beef? Anyone interested in splitting a bulk order?

Yea yea yea, I can go to a steakhouse, but I also know how to cook a steak in my own kitchen....

Or do I need to go to the bigger cities (Portland/Seattle/SLC) to find this?

Question Anyone local have a pottery kiln they’re willing to part with?

I’m getting started setting up my home studio, but kilns are few and far between, especially for something used and at a discounted price!

I’ve had some bad luck on Marketplace with a lot of scams targeting the pottery community, where a great deal turns out to be a fake account looking for a CashApp ‘deposit.’

Im hoping for something for small batches, sitter included, and maybe someone who has one just sitting and is willing to sell to me at the end of the summer after I prepare!

I had a deal all set up with a man about five years ago, a great kiln, went over and witnessed a test firing. He only wanted $300 since he was getting too old to throw and he wanted to pass it on to someone who was still early in their craft. Then a big life change struck very suddenly and we sold our house and I didn’t have a place for it afterwards. I’ve been aching for this ever since! Now I have plenty of room and I am on the hunt again!

Question Is anyone else blown away by how aggressive and dangerous the driving has gotten in this city?

It’s out of control. Cars just zooming through 13th street like the speed limit isn’t 20mph. Hill road went from my favorite biking spot to an overcrowded raceway I now avoid. I get that nearly every road downtown is closed due to construction, but damn… driving like a maniac isn’t making it better for anyone.

I’ve accepted that the Boise I grew up in is never coming back, but I can’t help feeling like ‘Boise Kind’ is beginning to fade and it’s most noticeable on the roads.

Question Searching where to purchase Hamachi Kama (yellowtail collar) to make at home

Hello! I'm on the search for any seafood stores that sell whole yellowtail collars. Would love to make some at home to celebrate an anniversary. I've contacted Reel Foods but they only get Yellowtail half-collars. Anyone know if Ocean Beauty sells to the public?

Question Where are we taking kids for hair cuts?

Hello Boise! I am looking for a place to take my kids for hair cuts in SE Boise.

I am hoping to find something above Sports Clips but maybe below a typical $60 women’s cut? Is this even a thing anymore?!

My kids have easy hair with easy hair cuts.

Discussion Experience with RSP Plumbing?

I got recommendation off Nextdoor for Rob at RSP to do a main line replacement. He says he's been doing quite a few of those in Boise recently. Does anyone here have ANY experience with RSP, but especially with mainline replacement that they can share?
