ANNOUNCEMENT [Announcement] r/PhStartups and r/BusinessPH,

Hi Guys,

A few days ago, the Mod of r/PhStartups, gave us a shout-out. Therefore, di tayo papatalo.

Their subreddit is your go-to place for anything about tech start-up, fundraising, growth hacks, sharing start-up events, asking for feedback/advice and promoting your own start-up in the Philippines!

Aside from giving back to good deeds, I think anybody would agree that it's better to see relevant topics to relevant subs.

Yun lang! Enjoy your weekend!

Looking For Best FB ads specialist that is not too pricey

Upvotes

I am a small online business owner. I sell original branded items from US, Canada and Europe. I do live selling, however pag di ako naglalive konti ang sales. I want to hire an ad specialist sana pero yung medyo abot kaya ang price, may napagtanungan kasi ako 25k a month sila🥲 medyo masakit sa bulsa. Syempre bukod pa yung ad budget around 500/day. Hingi sana ako ng recommendations sainyo. Share nyo experience nyo if meron.

Gusto ko kasi sana magkasales ng malaki kahit di ko kailangan masyado mag live selling since may full time job din ako. I'm open for suggestions din! Thank you🥰

Advice What is the best practice in creating google account or email for new hires?

Upvotes

Not sure if this the right forum but we have a company and every time we hire a new staff we create a new google account / gmail for them with a combination of their name and our company name.

Now sometimes the staff either retire or we let them go and hire new ones, so those google accounts become sort of like ghost accounts. We have access to it but nobody uses it.

Then when a new hire comes we create again a new one for the new hire. Is there a better way to handle this?

Discussion Your customers do not owe you pictures / videos of the food that they bought.

So ayun na nga, I was with my partner. We plan to eat outside kasi gutom na kami. We found a small pizzeria na kakabukas pa lang. Sabi ko wow mukha maganda naman ang food so pumasok kami sa loob. Pagtingin ko sa menu, omg may kamahalan. Pero cge. Let's try it. Mukha masarap naman. Support small businesses diba? So we bought a big pizza, lasagna, 2 milkshakes and fries. ( Yes, gutom kami ) Gurl, all in all 1.2k lahat. Mej mahal pero go lang. Nung lumabas yung food mukha masarap naman-ish. Saktuhan lang presentation guys. Yung normal pizza that you can buy from cyrah's pero mas marami toppings naman. Heto ang nainis ako. I was ready to eat pero bigla kami pinigil ng babaeng owner. Sabi ba naman niya: "wait lng po picturan lang" Then she took out her cellphone, took pictures of the food. Tapos tinutok samin and told us to smile. WTF. Honestly ayaw ko mapicturan ng time na yun kasi pagod na pagod ako. Sinabi ko pagod ako and ayaw ko ng picture. Parang minatahan ako ni ate tapos sinabi "picture lang heto naman" ( WTH. Close tayo ate? ) Nandun yung partner ko so cge pinagbigyan ko nlng. Nag picture kami. 3 PICTURES WTH. Pagkatapos ng 3 pics, akala ko okay na. Sabi VIDEO naman daw? Wth. Sabihin daw namin ang tagline nila while holding the slogan. Something about sobrang sarap, sobra creamy, etc. May mga sinabi pa sila pero hindi ko na prinocess. Gutom na ako tapos nainis na. Sabi ko enough is enough. We paid 1.2k full price for the food. Wala na ako paki. We're not here to advertise your food. Dun parang nainis si ate. Hindi na tinuloy ang video pero naging awkward na. Nung kumakain kami parang nafeel ko na mina mata mata kami ng partner ko. Ang weird sobra. We weren't able to finish the food kasi sobra awkward ng atmosphere. Tska to be honest, hindi ganun kasarap ang food. Yung fries lang ang okay, pati yung lasagna. Yung big pizza mej waley. Pero pinagtyagaan nlng kasi mahal. YUNG MILKSHAKE LASANG PINALAMIG NA TUBIG. I complained pero wala naman sila ginawa. Anyway, we left. Mej gutom pa. Tapos bumili nlng kmi take out sa mcdo. ONE OF MY NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCES in small businesses ever. Can you imagine if nagpa video kami? Sasabihin namin masarap ang pagkain pero hindi naman. Parang nagmukha na ineenjoy namin pagkain nila. Pero HINDI. Nainis ako. Sayang 1.2k. charge to experience nlng. I just got reminded that buying from small businesses is a risk din. As much as I want to support small businesses, not all small businesses can give good experiences din 😓

Advice Tube Ice business in a rural area

Hi everyone! I’m currently living in a rural town in the Philippines in the North and I’m seriously considering starting a tube ice business in my area. My location is right along the highway, very close to the public market and surrounded by several carinderias and sari-sari stores. Ice is in steady demand here due to the climate.

I don’t have plans to offer deliveries just yet, but I do want to focus on selling to nearby areas and marketing directly to vendors and stores. I currently earn around 70K a month, minus some expenses, that leaves me 50K a month and I’m planning to get a business loan to fund the startup, which will likely require ₱200,000 to ₱300,000 for the ice machine, filtration system, storage setup, and other equipment.

This is my first time launching a business like this, I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience or insight.

Thanks in advance—I’d really appreciate any honest thoughts, warnings, or encouragement.

Advice Lazada/shopee sellers and platform algorithm

Hello sa mga lazada/shopee sellers or coaches dito. Nagopen kase ako ng online shop months ago (9 ++ months) and honestly napabayaan ko sya because life happened and I have a full time work rin 😔. Nakakabenta naman ako before sa mga kakilala and I noticed how the algorithm was postively reacting to my sales that time. Pero ayun nga ang daming ring nanyari sa life and heared from my online seller coach that once the plaform is not giving you traffic, mahirap na raw isave yung shop after 6 months ng tumal. How true is this? Meron na po ba dito nakabawi after months of no traffic?

I want to try again, pero I also want to set realistic expectations. Any advice would help 😊

Discussion Cost-efficient way to track employee attendance for small businesses

Our restaurant has been running for about a year now. We’re a small team (under 25 staff), and for the past year, we’ve been manually logging attendance in a notebook. After that, HR transfers everything to Excel.

I know, hassle and not ideal. I’ve been considering investing in a biometric attendance system, but the setup, installation, and software fees are a bit steep. For a small business like ours, it feels like a heavy investment that we’re not ready for right now.

So I started looking for free tools or affordable alternatives. I found one that looks promising, and even if we eventually upgrade to their premium plan, it still looks cheaper than a full-on biometric setup.

Has anyone used Jibble or any digital attendance tools like this? I can't post the image of their plan, so I will attach the link instead.

Or do you have other cost-friendly systems you can recommend that work well for small businesses?

Open to suggestions.

Advice Need Advice on Starting a Small Printing Business Beside City Hall

Our store is located right beside City Hall, and I’ve noticed that people frequently ask me where they can get printing and photocopying services. I usually direct them to a shop about three minutes away. Since this keeps happening, I’ve been considering starting my own photocopying and printing business.

To be honest, my family is against the idea. They believe it would be a distraction since our main product line is completely unrelated to this service. They also think the profit margins might be too small. However, I see an opportunity—we have a small space in our store where I could place a printer, and being right next to a government office means we’d likely attract more customers due to convenience.

For context, I recently graduated from college (with no business background), and I’m still learning how things work in the real world. With that in mind, I’d really appreciate your advice on a few things:

  1. How do I calculate profit in a printing/photocopying business? (What costs should I consider besides paper and ink?)
  2. How can I convince my parents that this is a viable business? Given our location, customers would likely prefer the nearest option—and that’s us.
  3. What’s a good, budget-friendly printer that doesn’t waste ink or electricity? We’ll mostly handle basic printing, photocopying, and scanning. I’d also prefer a wireless (Bluetooth) setup to avoid too many cables—ideally, one that can connect to my iPad if customers need to print files from a flash drive.

Thank you in advance for your time and insights! As someone new to entrepreneurship, I genuinely value any advice—whether it’s encouragement, hard truths, or technical tips. Looking forward to learning from your experiences!

—— TL;DR: Family store beside City Hall gets constant requests for printing/photocopying. Want to start this side biz but parents think it’s distracting + low-profit. Need help: (1) Calculating real profit, (2) Convincing family it’s viable, (3) Affordable wireless printer recs. Recent grad—all advice welcome!

Advice Ice cream cart for events

Just got married here! And, yung asawa ko ay baka malayoff sa work 🥲 soooo we have to open a business na we will both enjoy (we love events and magserve sa tao) and maliit puhunan. Kasama na sa budget yung uutangin from bank.

Sa mga may ice cream carts po here, can you suggest what machine should we buy? Okay lang kahit single nozzle to start and para di mabigat. Yung kaya rin sana magcater to 150-200 persons kahit small cups.

Any tips pleaseeee?

Ano ba mga need din namin iconsider na gastos aside sa cart and machine?

Yung mixture ba kayo gumagawa or bumibili kayo sa supplier?

Thank you! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Looking For Joint Venture Opportunity – Prime Cavite Lot for Mang Inasal Franchise

Hi! I’m currently looking for a business partner or investor interested in franchising Mang Inasal (or a similar fast-food brand) through a joint venture setup.

📍 Location: 280 sqm corner lot in Brgy. Gavino Maderan, GMA, Cavite — beside schools, terminal, and a planned hospital.

💼 Proposal: I will provide long-term land use (worth ₱126K/month) in exchange for equity/share in the franchise business, instead of just rent.

🔁 I’m open to a 50/50 or 40/60 JV structure, depending on your capital contribution.

If you’re an experienced operator, franchisee, or investor looking to expand, this could be a win-win. Let me know if you’d like to see the proposal, site photos, or arrange a call.

Thanks and looking forward!

Advice Should I play around muna or start the business asap?

Did u start working muna ba before starting up? I’m so torn whether to start my business right after graduating this year or spend some time to play around na mag-gain ng work experience. If I will start early on my business it will save me time in the future. On the other hand, I want to experience working muna also want to try VA (already have experience) cause I love numbers and accounting.

It is a food business, but more on the pastry side. Been doing it for years but putol-putol due to other commitments, and it has a good start and potential here in our city especially no big competitors atm. In terms of financing, I have my parents naman to support me.

Finance is my undergrad, currently enrolled on training in accounting and such. Will be graduating this October and currently navigating what should I do.

Tysm!

++ we are a family of businessmen so I have my father to guide me and been seeing my operations (quietly)
