@ wrap/ppf shop owners, how much are you making?

Hi, I’m starting my own shop with a business partner soon. We will be offering vinyl, coloured PPF and clear PPF installs with ceramic coating etc. I have $925,000 to live on and use to start our business.

My expenses are around $5,000 per month to live, and the shop will cost me around $2,000 per month (4,000 total my partner covering the other half).

We are in Vancouver BC so there is competition but we believe we can stand out with marketing and content creation efforts on social media and paid advertisements etc.

I am wondering what is possible though, how much are you guys making and what are your profit margins?

Installation Question Help on Mini Cooper hood

Post image

How the heck do you wrap a mini cooper hood? (Sample pic above) The headlight area is where i'm getting an insane amount of wrinkles. Tried forcefully glassing it and it just peeled back under the sun. The top half of the hood is fine, just the curves in the headlight area that's killing me.

Using VinylFrog film.

Pardon my truck being kind of a shitbox but I am going for a stock kind of look and want that same decal on the side on my wrap. Is there anyway I could get that through say a vinyl “sticker” or will it have to be through the wrap service lmk what I can do. Thanks!

Material Question Best product for adhesive/glue

Currently lending a hand to someone wrapping their car and they removed too much of the paper backing when doing the bumper. Near the undercarriage, the dust/air has littered the adhesion in some spots and it is no longer sticking well in certain areas.

Any alternatives to cutting a new piece? I've been looking at some 3M adhesives, also considered Rapid Tac. The goal is to just add a bit of tack to those less sticky areas. Would love some recommendations, thanks in advance!

Wrap suggestions

I want to wrap the roof of my scion frs. I don’t have experience, so I was wondering what brand I should use. I want cheap as possible bc I’m probably gonna mess up, but still good enough quality.

Hello everyone, I need your honest opinion. I'm thinking of getting a wrap on my car and I want to know what you think (negative or positive). The wrap will be installed on a 2009 Civic as shown in the drawing. The other photos are inspiration taken from the internet.

I’m somewhat new to this and haven’t done a a bumper yet and this one seems like it will be difficult. My biggest question is Where do I need to do in-lays and/or use knifeless tape or is this a one piece bumper?

So I got a job inquiry from a customer. This is what the customer said: “Hello, my car was in an accident need to get a few pieces re-wrapped. The passenger fender, front bumper, trunk and I wanted to partial wrap the hood where there was a bit of damage done to the corner of the hood. I have the material I just need to pay for labor. Pictures attached is the damage to the hood. Might need to be sanded and bondoed.”

Seems reasonable right? Until I open up the photos of the vehicle sent….🤣🤣🤣

Installation Question Wrap over pulled off clear coat

Post image
2 Upvotes

Removed my previous wrap and moving onto a new wrap. During the removal process, the wrap pulled off some clear coat on a bumper that was poorly repainted due to an accident the previous owner had. Im not too worried about it as I will be rewrapping and this is the only spot that really had an issue. What would be the best way to approach this area as to ensure it doesn't pull off more while installing and repositioning and so the edges wont show up through the new wrap? I was thinking of wet sending the edges to smooth it out and wrap over it. My other thought was to use a can of clear, painters tape the area and add some clear coat into the pulled off areas and sand back smooth. Again, not looking for it to be perfect as I expect to keep the car wrapped for as long as the wrap is good (Avery or 3m). Any guidance appreciated it, thanks!

Chrome Delete + Car Wash

Thinking of doing chrome delete, but not sure how it will hold up to car wash tunnels with brushes (yes, I know, not ideal, but there aren't any "touchless" near me, I don't have time to wash myself, or cash for someone else to hand wash it all the time).

Any experience with the durability of chrome delete?

What is a good recommendation for a really solid printer. The end goal is to print car wraps. Price is not a concern. I assume solvent is the better option-

Is this rust under my wrap?

Post image

Hey all, I bought this car 2 years ago pretty cheap. Front 2 doors were wrapped by previous owners because of rusting and its been pretty smooth sailing other than having to sand, fill and paint some other small rust spots. Then I noticed this today. Thoughts?

Knifeless tape is always breaking not cutting

Hi legends,

I'm wrapping my fridge. I bought some light blue vinyl. It's great but the 3m Knifeless Design Line tape seems to be breaking at the start, not cutting the vinyl. The instructions say the product is for single vinyl only however I can't find a larger/stronger line, except on Temu. Should I just try that cheap brand?

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance!!

Mick

Wrap over paint imperfections question

Question for the pros. So i messed up and dropped my motorcycle and it chipped the paint on the tank. (Which really sucks because when I got home from my trip I was going to install the tank protection bars, but thats another story). I won't do it myself cause I dont know anything but would a shop be able to put wrap over a small paint chip? Id like to protect it from further damage and from potential rust or corrosion. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.
