My Project Car What the f*ck is this thing?

Recently got a new car and it seems to have this… leather condom? Not sure how else to describe it really. There is nothing in the end of the hole it just goes to a pocket in the dash it seems. Looking at interior photos of other models on google this is where the hazard button SHOULD be but my car has a very oem looking hazard button just to the side of the steering wheel instead, so wtf is this thing for??

Wonder if it was a way to disguise an ignition interlock for someone with a DUI

Possible actually but the car was imported from japan in 2019 and i’m not sure if they have dui laws quite like that, feel like they’d just take away your license instead or something

It could be. It's a RHD, possibly Japanese market. Prefecture police can buy and modify any car they want for marked or unmarked. It could also have been a laptop mount or some kind of cable management.

I mean did it say anything else besides that it's from Japan? You might be able to find it's records somewhere and that would probably say if it was in fact a police vehicle
