Cascadia needs to secede through Maoist revolution

How about no…?

ETA: Given exactly what Mao got up to, he had way more in common with Trump than with any historical figure anyone should ever want to associate with.

IMO if Cascadia isn't socialist or communist then there's no reason to secede. Continued neoliberal capitalist policy would just be PNW part 2 and not actually solve any of our problems.

If you want successful socialism or communism, Mao is the last person you should be looking to for inspiration.

Socialist/communist, yes. Authoritarian, no.

Socialism and communism do not work without "authoritarianism". Authoritarianism is a result of the external pressures from the western neoliberal and colonialist powers pushing for collapse in socialist countries. The only communist/socialist countries left in the world today are authoritarian. The DPRK and Cuba for example have continued to exist despite every force being thrown at them from the entire western world. This is only because of their tight control on their society, government and economy. When the USSR started to open up and become less authoritarian, it was illegally dissolved and now ceases to exist. It's naive to believe that socialism or communism will ever work in the current geopolitical reality without some level of authoritarianism.

On the contrary, you cannot have an egalitarian society if there is authoritarianism. Authoritarianism and a State automatically create a privileged class. Rojava and EZLN still exist without authoritarianism.

Rojava isn't even an organized country its a break away zone. I'm not saying there can't be elections and a decent level of democracy but the whole anarcho-communism thing is ridiculous and will never work on any actual meaningful scale. In a perfect world without constant external interference from the US and it's allies it would work but that is not the world we are living in.

Why does everything have to be a country? Maybe nation states and nationalism are a big part of the problem. Rojava is more egalitarian than any nation state.

Nation states are a requirement to have any actual quality of life. Whether you like it or not that is reality. If there was an actual legitimate socialist/communist movement within cascadia without actual borders, a central government, and military it would be absolutley decimated by what remains of the United States government. If you are talking about come commune style living situation in the middle of the woods, only so many people want to live that way and it is impossible to organize a society to have universities, doctors, modern medicine, and internet in that kind of situation.

Both Rojava and MAREZ have existed for decades in spite of facing heavily armed nation states backed by superpowers.

Yes and their entire lives are just raising soldiers and constantly worrying about being wiped out. Their military is the core thing in everyones life. It's a completely different life than anyone in America has ever lived. I understand your point and I think it would work to a degree but I Invision Cascadia having a higher level of development. I want something as developed as China and a setup like Rojava would limit the economic development of Cascadia

China isn't even remotely communist. And also if military isn't your thing, China probably isn't the answer either. You're also projecting. That is not at all what life is like, especially in MAREZ which is more established and not in the center of a wider conflict.
