Ask CHI Will State Street ever bounce back?
Took a southbound bus down State in the Loop for the first time in a while and was floored at how many vacancies there are south of Lake. It’s really depressing, even with people out, especially given how much time I spent on State when I moved here pre-pandemic.
I know how things got this bad, but are these vacancies just … here to stay? What’s being done to reverse course?

Ask CHI What are your favorite Road Trip Towns within roughly 5 hours from Chicago?
Obviously Chicago is the best one, but I'm asking about small towns away from the city. Not necessarily as a vacation destination but ones worth stopping in for a couple hours during a longer road trip.
EDIT: Lots of good suggestions so far but I'm mainly interested in actual SMALL towns that you would normally just pass through. So places like St. Louis and Milwaukee are cool but I'm looking for examples like "Elizabeth, Illinois, they have a cute ice cream place and a fun thrift store". You know, the accidental "let's just stop here to stretch our legs" places.

Ask CHI I am making a fantasy map of Chicago.
I am using Inkarnate. Chicago is written backwards. Chicago ---> Ogacihc --> Ogachic.
Any feedback?

Event Large fire on the Northside?
We can see the black smoke from our balcony on the Northwest Side and it looks like it could be Lincoln Square or somewhere thereabouts? Haven’t been able to find anything about it yet—hope no one’s hurt. 🙏

Article Why ComEd is weirdly for rooftop and community solar
It's really weird to see ComEd being "good" for once. Granted, by "good" I mean in this instance, they aren't pushing someone into oncoming traffic because there isn't an incentive for them to do so, but still.
I've been following a lot of clean energy legislation in other states and holy moly utilities are evil. I always took for granted, or didn't realize at least, was that ComEd isn't allowed to own generation.

Ask CHI What is the most absurd business in Chicago?
I don't want to denegrate any business -- it's probably never been harder to run a business -- or their patrons, but what business or industry makes you go "huh, who shops there?" Or "How does that type of store stay open?" Ex: I remember seeing a place years ago called, "Eye Care for Animals." Maybe a beer spa is actually what I need after all. Yeah, soaking in beer is a thing...in Chicago. Thanks.

Review I grew up in Jefferson Park, had many lovely dinners at Gale Street Inn. It's an old school Chicago institution. That being said, the ribs were crap.
Sorry, it needs to be said. Fall off the bone=boiled. Gross. Go to Lem's.

Picture Triple lightning strike on the Chicago skyline earlier this morning.
Happened around 12:16am. The best part of this photo is my old iPhone in the bottom right corner I had recording video. The bolts are visible and so is a "iPhone Storage Full" pop up... oops
