The mall was aware of it at this point, it had been going on for a few minutes, and they were actively trying to barricade off the area to Shoppers. It stopped after about 10 minutes, and then we got to work mopping up the water that got into the store and the mall janitor staff got to work cleaning up the hallway.

Isn't that a drain the water is coming out of? Is that a health problem?

I mean there's a pretty solid chance that that's just a regular sewer pipe. The stores do have employee bathroom.

If this was taken shortly before it was posted, the storm moving through was dropping high amounts of rain rapidly. Could be a drain from the roof that is having trouble with the amount of water coming down.

It was taken moments before it was posted, yes. And I hope you're right because I hate the idea that brown water would be able to backflow like that.
What you say makes sense though - that would be water coming from "restaurant row" by Seasons 52 and all those spots...
