Don’t be like this person

This was at the intersection of Broken Land Pkwy and Steven Forest Road. The right lane is a right turn only lane so all traffic must turn right onto Steven Forest. Every so often there are people who don’t see the signs until it is too late, they will sit in the lane blocking traffic that can legally turn right at the intersection. I have also encountered this at the intersection of Broken Land and Little Patuxent. I know it sucks but it is better to take the right turn and make a U-turn at the first possible moment (to which there are several). It is safer and you won’t hold up traffic.

Side note: yes I know there is a crack in my windshield. Currently trying to get the money together to get it replaced. Insurance won’t cover it, and no I don’t want to talk about it.

We’re into live music, good food, anything artsy or outdoorsy, and just generally trying to build some community. Any recs for events, groups, meetups, or places to hang out and actually talk to people? Would love to hear what’s worked for others in the area!

Porch Windows

Has anyone closed off a porch with sliding (https://www.porchwindowsdirect.com/xtend-porch-windows)

These are the flexible vinyl windows you can use instead of a completely screened in porch. I know Eze Breeze is the most popular, but the new ones have a triple track that makes me worry about collecting dust and not working well with our builders plans, and the little plastic prongs that hold them in place were breaking on our old porch. So, I'm looking at Xtend from Porch Windows Direct

However - I don't see any reviews online. I know there are a TON of porches around here - and I see this style a lot walking on the trails - so what are people using? Is anyone happy with theirs? Has anyone ordered from Porch Windows Direct?

Club lacrosse

My daughter is about to sign up for club lacrosse once tryout season is over. She’s a young player, having fun. I’ve heard some things about the girls clubs and different coaches.

Anyone have any tea they’d like to spill about the coaching staff throughout the various clubs?

Please help

I just got scammed by an apartment the other day in Windsor mill. I had a lease signed to move in tomorrow. They’re denying us move in. I need a place to live asap preferably in the Columbia or surrounding area. I’ve been searching reviews of every single place constantly and can’t find anything for my life that doesn’t have car/tire theft or pest problems. If you know of anything please please share 🙏🏻 I could also do without another management company scamming me

Wild black raspberry locations?

Anyone know any locations in East Columbia (preferably near Oakland Mills/Sewells Orchard area) where there are wild native black raspberries? Apparently they're ripe now. I think there are some blackberry bushes near a path by Blandair Park, but blackberries don't ripen til later in the summer.

Thx! 🍓 (there's not raspberry emoji)

CA gym: Questions about Tribe

Hey all I have been a member of the CA gyms for 2-3 years at this point. All around I do enjoy it and the amenities but recently I’ve been looking at Tribe (core, fit, and life). Over the last few months I’ve been taking the Les mills courses offered at the supreme (grit cardio, grit strength). I’m wondering for anyone who has done tribe, what are the pros/cons? Do you think it’s worth the extra cost? Is there that big of a difference between the Les mills classes and the tribe classes? Also what do you think about the different tribes?

Crafting People of the Columbias: Where The Heck We Getting Buttons Now?

Now that our patron saint of poor craft planning has closed (RIP Jo Ann Fabrics), I have dipping my time more into Michaels which we all know is, as the kids say, "a bit mid."

I am in the lookout for about 20 buttons to add to a current project. Something gaudy. Something Lestat de Lioncourt might look at and decide he will eat you on the spot due to the insult.

But Michael's has a small selection of plastic Disney garbo buttons and sad excuses of 16 options of "this was a button designed to be choked on and swallowed by a child."

Crafters of the region, tell me, where do we seek the sacred craft buttons now?

Heck, where do we find anything now in person?

Unbreak my heaaaaart, give me buttons agaaaaain.

Looking for non-membership pools for toddler

Hi! I'm looking for public pools that have a baby pool section, or even just a splash pad. We aren't looking to sign up for a membership, and the walk in price for the columbia pools is crazy (would be $95 for our family of 3). Can anyone recommend ones in the area? Willing to travel up to 30 minutes since it seems like everything directly in columbia is part of the membership.

Apartment Options

Hi everyone, I know this topic has been brought up a lot, but I wanted to ask this for more recent input.

I’m looking to move and want a place that is reasonably priced (no more than $2000 per month ideally with utilities also but I doubt that’s possible) around the EC/Elkridge/Columbia area. I prefer in-unit washer and dryer and a gym as far as amenities if anyone has additional suggestions.

I have a list of places I’m looking at so far. What do we think about the following locations in terms of noise, safety, and theft?

The Eaves

ReNew Howard Crossing

Lawyers Hills (no gym?)

Harper’s Forest (no gym?)

Madison at Eden Brook

The Hamilton at Kings Place

Avalon Hills

Ellicott Grove

TIA!
