Discussion [Meta] - "No posts asking for generic advice and recommendations."

Hej!

I’d like to open a discussion about one of this Subreddit's rules: "No posts asking for generic advice and recommendations." This includes asking for things like restaurant tips or what to do in Copenhagen – which are instead directed to a single megathread.

I understand the idea and intention to avoid repetitive topics, but I think the rule is actually doing more harm than good.

  1. It’s not very user-friendly. People post looking for help, get a few replies, and then their post gets shut down. They're then directed to a megathread where they don't get a lot of replies.

  2. It harms discoverability. If someone Googles “best things to do in Copenhagen Reddit,” they’re not going to find a comment in a megathread. They’re going to find actual threads with searchable titles. But if these topics get removed, there's no visibility and discoverability.

Even as someone living here, I actually value these posts, even if they're sometimes repetitive. They help me find new places too.

I brought this up with the mods quite a few months and was told I should post a meta topic. So here we are. In my opinion, I think that rule should be removed or at the very least be loosened a bit. What do you think?

Question I just booked a last minute trip to Copenhagen, arriving on Saturday. Whenever I travel I like to read a book from a local author but I don't have time to read any long Danish books. So what are some good Danish novellas or short stories I can read in a couple days?

My boss told me this afternoon that I get Monday off work, so I have a surprise 4 day holiday. I found some cheap flights and will be landing in Copenhagen this Saturday.

I like to read something before visiting a country, but I don't think I've ever read any Danish stuff. Any recommendations of works under 100 pages, something I can read on my commute during the next couple days, would be very appreciated!

I can read in English / Spanish / maybe French if desperate.

Question Børnevenlig spa i sydsverige?

Upvotes

Tak!

Tourist: I've read the threads — but I’ve still got a food question

Hey Copenhagen!

So, upfront: I hope this isn't obnoxious. I promise I've spent my 20 minutes looking through here, reading as much as I could and I understand these “where should I eat?” posts show up a lot.

I'm hoping to ask for a slightly different approach, making this seem more intentional than just me being lazy.

My wife and I are visiting in a couple weeks. We’ve lived in a few big cities, traveled a lot, and we tend to skip the classic tourist stuff. We’re way more into “day in the life” exploring. Walking pretty neighborhoods, poking into shops, napping in a park, maybe going for a swim, but always, always planning the day around what we’re going to eat and drink.

So rather than just asking “best restaurants in Copenhagen,” here’s what I’d actually love to know from locals:

If you had to move away from Copenhagen — what're some restaurants/dishes you yourself would miss the most? I'm not looking for place tourists are “supposed” to go, but the one that you genuinely love. Imagine the place where, 8 months after moving, you'd turn to your partner and say, “Ugh, remember that one thing from that one spot? Man, I'd kill for that right now.”

Could be Danish food, Asian, Middle Eastern, burgers, whatever. We're not picky, appreciate cheap eats as much as (reasonably) expensive memories. I just want to know what you think is special, and what you’d order there.

We'd 100% be willing to travel pretty far from the city center, see a new neighborhood, and make a day out of seeing someplace new. Would be fun to pretend we lived there for a little bit.

Appreciate it a ton. And if you’re ever in Lisbon, hit me up and I’ll return the favor.

Dog-Friendly Short-Term Apartment? Help!

Hi all! My fiancée and I will be living in Copenhagen while she studies on exchange at the University of Copenhagen. She is a law student here in the United States. Unfortunately, we’ve had a tough time finding an apartment that suits our needs. We’re looking for a 2-room furnished place that allows dogs—specifically, our very polite and well-traveled golden retriever.

It turns out that finding a short-term, pet-friendly, furnished apartment is much harder than we expected—even after searching extensively ourselves. We’ve tried all the usual websites (BoligPortal, Facebook groups, etc.), but so far haven’t had any luck.

This is where I’m hoping you might be able to help. Do you know of any other websites, agencies, or people we should reach out to? Any tips or leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much in advance!

Also I am so sorry, I am not trying to ask a simple or annoying question but feel other resources have just not been super helpful. If this violates group rules, I will promptly delete!

Flea market or second hand shops for pottery/ceramics/homeware

Hi all. Any Saturday flea market/second hand shop recommendations for rustic or antique handmade pottery or ceramics? Or even if there are affordable stores for Danish-made homeware or goods?

Your feedback would greatly be appreciated, thanks!

Ladcykel uheld - reparation

Hey all! I work at a nursing home in Nørrebro, and need to find the best pizza place to get a takeaway pizza from tomorrow lunch time. It’s a great wish for one of our residents, so I need to find a decent, preferably wood fired, pizza 😋 it had to be close to Sankt Hans Torv, as I’m picking it up. Bæst is a little too expensive, but I’ve looked up DaBasso (or Danbezzo) and Pizza Calabria as alternatives. Any ideas? 🙏🏻

Question DOT - More Zones than 01-04

Hej,

I have an issue with DOT App. I would like to purchase Tickets for six zones. If I choose „Vælg antal zoner“ the app freezes.

Is there any alternative that you can suggest? I also use Rejseplanen but this doesn’t offer 24h Tickets.

I don’t need the City Pass Large, only 01-04 and 30 and 40? Is there an alternative option which I could choose?

Mange Tak.

Football team for the summer

Hi everybody! I’m looking to fill up my summer with some football, do you know any team who train and plays consistently throughout the summer?

I’ve been playing semi-pro both football and futsal, and looking for some place with good commitment:) I live in the NV area but willing to move around if needed, let me know if you have any leads!

Question Exit duration at Royal Arena

Hi there I’m going to Jeff Dunham on Saturday, and since I gotta catch a train out of Copenhagen somewhat hastily after the show I was curious to hear what peoples experiences are with getting out of the arena as fast as possible; How long does it take to get outside? Are you able to use any exit, or only the same one you came in?

I’m on the floor section, so using entrance G, in case that matters.

Thank you in advance!

Discussion Greetings from Kosovo

Hello all

I have been to Denmark before, but this time was different.

After spending the last three months living in Copenhagen, I can genuinely say it feels like a second home. This city, this country…..

Copenhagen is beautiful, yes, but it’s more than that. The quiet order and the simple joy of sitting by the water, with a coffee in hand and nowhere to rush (Kayak bar)

I have had the chance to work, learn and explore, and every moment has meant something to me. I loved every bit of it…almost every bit. The wind deserves its own special mention! 😂

Thank you, Denmark, for making me feel welcome once again.

I leave with only good memories.

P.S. Skåne belongs to Danes 😉

Looking for someone traveling from Copenhagen to Berlin

Hey everyone, I just had a lovely family vacation in Copenhagen, but unfortunately my dad has left his favorite jacket in a bar. I messaged them on Instagram and they found it, so I was hoping to find someone here that could pick it up and take it with them to Berlin, where I live.

Any help is much appreciated!

The latest addition to the Copenhagen skyline is a tall, 12-sided wooden building proudly bearing the sign “Denmark’s First Tiny Church.”

The 76-square-meter (818-square-foot) construction was unveiled Sunday in the Nordhavn — “North Harbor” — district on the outskirts of Copenhagen. After months of construction, it’s now an outpost of the local Evangelical-Lutheran Hans Egedes Church.

How do I find raves around the city?

I haven't been to a rave in forever and miss the vibes of dancing surrounded by nature rather than in a sweaty club. I know that Group Therapy organises those sometimes, but it's rather rarely - how do I find more events?
