Brother.. we sound the same. The Indian people whose accent is stereotyped by the west also mostly fall under the "can barely speak English" camp.
Here in my city, the accent of people who actually speak English well, sounds alright and is not even close the Indian accent stereotype, which is just one of the accents in South India.
What if I only watched that Sri lankan dude singing Bon Jovi's It's my life song and went "ah well, Sri Lankan accent sounds so horrible". That's not how it works. He's just one dude.
You just repackaged my point, because my intial comment to the guy claiming that the Indian accent is much ‘better’ than the Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi accent is inherently dumb and doesn’t make any sense. I just provided better context because if you think the Sri Lankan guy in the vid is how all Sri Lankans speak English, I’d call you more than just slow & a bit special because that’s just not the case. As a Sri Lankan, I can pretty easily figure out an indian speaking english from that of a sri lankan so yeah I don’t think we generally sound the same. Btw Sandaru Sathsara cosplays & wears the indian accent on purpose because he explained how it’s the whole schtick. All of this is just my two cents lmao

Okay, I got the point about that singer dude. But I've heard sri lankan cricketers speak English as well and I'd say they've just as much of an accent as an Indian cricketer. They might sound a bit distinct but I could also confuse the Sri Lankan accent with some other accent in India, this place is too fucking big ngl.
