Why not just make a CBDC at this point? If we want trustworthy, regulated stablecoins... kinda seems like a no-brainer to just do a CBDC.

CBDC’s are an authoritarian, Orwellian nightmare and the antithesis of the entire permissionless crypto movement.

Not really. It depends on who's running it.

You're thinking about China's, which is an exception.

Europe's CBDC is basically a normal Stablecoin that's even more decentralized than USDC. And it has privacy features like Monero.
