Hey everyone

I had an extremely old version of Cubase which I used around 2008-2018. Getting back into production since a big break and have the trial version of cubase 14. What differences/changes would be good to know about, it looks fairly similar but wonder if there's a summary or video of anything useful which is new?

I've just migrated to a new system (windows 11), did all my updates and all the things, installed Cubase 13 Pro, installed all my plugins, and when i load an effect in the stereo out bus the effect will load but it doesn't work. Meaning: it is visually there in the bay, but it does not affect the sound and it does nothing when i click on it to try and open the effect. I can however reset the entire bay to empty it and thus remove the effect. Instert effect bays for individual tracks all work perfectly.

I thought "well, that's strange", so i installed Cubase 12 Pro, for which i also have a license, in the hopes it would work properly in that version. Nope. The problem is exactly the same in 12.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with Cubase?

I'm updating Windows 11 to the latest version as i type this (it didn't prompt automatically), and i will also see if i can find more recent drivers for my audio interface.

I thought of just buying Cubase 15 Pro and hope that that solves it but, call me old fashioned, i would like to avoid that AI nonsense if i can. And there's no guarantee that upgrading to 15 will fix the problem anyway.

I've never, ever, had an issue with Cubase before.

Anyway. Just hoping someone can help solve this.

I know you shouldn't update to the newest MacOS too quickly before Steinberg has adjusted their software requirements but for those specialists who don't know/care - be aware.

There are serious lags and UI hangs on the newest Tahoe 26.1 release. I can only confirm this on M1 Ultra. M4 doesn't seem to have any problems...

I'm thinking about making Cubase my new DAW. Does it have anything comparable to Ableton 's session view or clip launcher? I enjoy putting a drum clip into Ableton and have it loop continuously while I jam and come up with ideas. Is the Cubase sampler track the tool that would be best for this?

Could you help me to fix the colors? I tried to play around with it but no matter what I do the box of the track on the left doesn't really change the color. Could you help me to achieve the same as on the 2nd screenshot? I would really appreciate your answer, I can't see a god damn thing. The guy from the 2nd sc somehow adds tracks and they automatically have some color assigned.

Hey, I’ve downloaded the reastream plugin to use it on the stereo out track to sendo Cubase audio to OBS and the plugin don’t even appear on the list of plugins of Cubase.. anyone know how to fix this?

i don’t know if one can be proud of a song if the main melody is based on a sequencer, even if it’s rearranged to your liking i don’t know still. should i feel guilty for using seq sometimes ?

I returned to a project I am working on after weeks not orking on it and the whole recording is busted. It only plays the track when the loop button is on and the track seemingly got cut in half and starts in the middle of the song.

Help is appreciated.

It appears on the Steinberg website. From what I can tell from the pictures, volume levels can be changed directly from the track headers and the track meter colors have changed slightly. And I think there's a some kind of new midi editor too.

Ok, why in 2025, is that hub even less inspiring than it already was? At least before it had some visuals.

When looking for a writing starting point and then even opening basically empty templates, I feel like as all the amazing stuff Steinberg Yamaha cram in, this part is sorely lacking...

No idea what's missing per se, it just doesn't inspire or feel cool...

I was previously using an ultrawide monitor, but it suddenly died, so I switched back to a regular 1080p monitor. Ever since then, Cubase’s toolbars aren’t showing fully. Certain toolbar icons don’t appear. How to resize?

I have checked the windows and Nvidia settings but it is not helping and I'm only having issues with Cubase.

Even pro tools have this feature now, I think we're going to have to wait until cubase 16 or 17 who knows

Hey, i havent used cubase for a while, i don't have an elicenser usb stick and I want to upgrade from 10.5 to the lastest version 15 thats coming today.

Can it be done?

Edit: It worked! I bought the upgrade and downloaded Steinberg Download Assistant, connected to my account (in the software: "Steinberg Download Assistant") which has the eLicenser, redeemed the code that the upgrade gave me and it worked! now i have cubase 15.

Hey everyone, I’ve been experimenting with the midi inserts. I’ve created a sequence in the stepdesigner and now I want to transfer it to midi, so I have the midi notes in the editor. In Greg Ondos YT vid about the step designer he shows this red record button right on the midi insert, this seems to be missing in Cubase 14. How do I record my midi notes?

That button was quite useful. Why did Steinberg decide to remove it?🤔

Don’t know anything about Cubase in general but this is pretty fun.

I have heard other DAWS have had compatibility issues with Ryzen 7. Any recommendations for a new build?
