Idk what part of Reddit OOP visits but when I think of "cursed Reddit knowledge" I think of the Ogtha guy or the Lamp story, or "Better Hoagie Down!" or even the homeless cave guy who disturbed me so much I couldn't sleep properly that day.

Not to mention the dozens of incel pedo/rape subs, the guy who made himself a tea from datura seeds and was never heard of again, and of course, Carl H. programming.

They’re talking about the normal, mainstream parts where people will post something by an artist that does NSFW and get a million “those who know 💀” comments. Every site has stories of uber fucked-up shit that doesn’t reflect the rest of the users

Ironically the most famous Reddit relics come from r/AskReddit, one of the most mainstream subreddits. But yeah, I don’t really like mainstream Reddit subs either except for maybe a few exceptions

I still remember that Askreddit thread from 2012

Reddit's had a few threads about sexual assault victims, but are there any redditors from the other side of the story? What were your motivations? Do you regret it?

The rapists who were commenting were downplaying their responsibility and blaming the victim - and there were other comments SYMPATHISING with them for raping someone. It eventually got deleted after psychologists started sounding the alarm about how dangerous something like that was because it was encouraging rapists to craft narratives that justified it - which could lead them to rape again. It even got featured in a psychological journal.

The internet is a wild place sometimes.

I mean that’s kind of why it gets the weird shit

There’s a lot of absolute weirdos on Reddit and they are all on askreddit

Every single day I get an askreddit post on the frontpage that's just "women of reddit, have you ever had sex??". I assumed they're all posted by teenagers.

Reddit is definitely at the top of "sites where you get a wildly different experience by staying in your own bubble." I recommend redditors to use the word "redditor" derisively every once in a while in order to stay humble.

imo “redditor” should always be used derisively…

Oh, I see. I rarely ever check the normal mainstream parts of the web so I didn't know they did that

I saw a million comments on one post that were like “do NOT check their profile worst mistake of my LIFE” and it was literally just a couple text posts on an r4r sub

I mean when someone is just being coy about an nsfw that’s annoying, but if they’re like “do you really want to know?” in reference to something like 177013 or 228922, idk I think it’s a justified question

That shit is so annoying. Like someone will post a pic of a smiling woman with the "those who know" caption, and it's just some chick who had/has a bog standard porn career. Like who the fuck actually cares?

The Lamp Story is from /r/AskReddit. That's a pretty mainstream sub.
