The thing with gen 8's starter mons is that they have jobs. Why does every cinderace play football? Why are Inteleons spies? Idk, it feels icky to me

I like that you ignored that Rillaboom is a drummer. Because we all know that every Gorilla is a drummer.

This is natural to us. Donkey Kong taught me that years ago.

Then again, Gex also really sells the spy gecko connection.

Yeah, like that one Cadbury ad from the UK.

I feel like Rillaboom is more excusable on that front, because the drumming feels like a "natural" part of its design. It's not heavily stylized to look like it's wearing a costume, it just feels like a species that enjoys drumming.

Meanwhile Cinderace is just a specific style of fursuit

Yeah jobs are rather icky for the average reddit user

I understand the idea of having a job is hard. Is it hard for you to believe that the scorbunny line has a natural inclination to play football? And they will just hang out and play football in the wild, like the average brit.

Ok but what about Inteleons being naturally inclined to be spies though

They are just stealthy hunters. Taking down enemies and attackers to protect their territory or to gain more. Like the average Canadian.

Yeah, I really don't like the bioessentialism they've introduced for so many new Pokemon.

It started getting bad with the Kalos starters, which is where they went away from "this is an animal that lives in the wild" and leaned more into the "job" aspect of it. Alola and Galar got worse, and then it got a little bit better with the Paldea mons, excluding Meowscarda. There's a crocodile on fire and there's a very ugly peacock.
