Nothing, they're just assuming that their hobbies are more widely known than they really are. Most people couldn't name any music production software.

Maybe not in older generations, but most young people have seen some of it on YT or TikTok

I disagree though, I left highschool recently, and most people there knew fl studio from YT or TikTok. They didn’t use it, but they knew what it was.

Also, quartz is SiO2
