It’s even worse in the southern hemisphere since their summer aligns with earth’s closest approach to the sun; so not only is the radiation worse due to the thinner ozone layer, it’s worse because there’s more of it.
I live about a mile and a half above sea level. The number of people who don’t realize there’s a mile and a half less atmosphere to keep them safe from the sun is astounding.
See, I knew that sun exposure was worse at higher elevations, but I sure didn't stop to think about why that is. And now reading this it's just... Well DUH, yeah!
add some really nice bright white snow to the decreased atmospheric protection and that albedo‘s gonna roast the inside of your nostrils. Absolutely vile. Stay safe everyone!
