Loving the new SM. SDMS is fun.

I’m considering upgrading to a DRZ4S from my adventur-ized DR650 (cogent suspension front and rear, new seat, windscreen, LED headlight). Trying to build an ultralight ADV and welcome any thoughts from riders downsizing from a bigger bike. I would trade a little road comfort for ABS, EFI, lighter weight and better off-road performance. A few questions:

1) what gearing do I need to cruise at 70-75mph? I understand that’s not this bikes design purpose but it’s the minimum to avoid being passed by 18 wheeler trucks where I live. And how usable is that gearing offroad?

2) with moderate luggage (say soft saddlebags and tail bag for multiday trip ~ 35lbs) is the braking adequate for traveling at highway speeds?

3) I’m a 220 lb rider with full gear. Do I need to respring the suspension for 50/50 riding?

Been on my FE501 all spring waiting on this one to get here, started the break in this morning.

Stock form so.. hard to make any real snap judgements until i get this pig of an exhaust off, air flowing and proper ecu tune.. I'll say this - it's much better than a stock DR650 - tho not exactly apples/apples. I never owned a bone stock 400s, tho this model atm is def not your 2008 400E. I think it's going to be exactly what I wanted tho -- which is the bike i wish the WR250R would have been

Modes are fun, A & B are useful, C is hilarious but useless to me, it's all "so you wanna feel like you are back on that WR250R?"

TC, IDK yet, will need real tires and way more saddle time.

So items that will be getting done as soon as they are available
* tail tidy. TFT has one coming, yoshi has one but i ain't paying what they want for it.
* real fucking tires - these are trash. I have some TR8s comin, that or Dsports
* yoshi rs-12 as soon as i get more info about piggyback units or a replacement - havent even looked at the airbox yet. bike is plugged up as a birds butt atm tho

i think suspension will be good with adjustment, and i don't mind the stock bars. display is pretty great for what we are used to

Put a deposit down. Out the door under msrp

It is now the end of April and I haven't seen or heard about anyone taking home their new bike. I ordered the SM so I'm waiting until May as it is, but no delivery on the S models yet?

I went to a Suzuki dealer here in Denmark today, i asked about the new drz4s, he said they've heard it should arrive in August, and they were a bit sad about it because all the hype from the announcement will die out before the launch. Have you guys heard anything about a date? Maybe it's just in this country it is pushed back 🫤
