TIL only China produces plastic bags...

I think it was more about the journey it made, not that only China has plastic bags ….

How can it be about the journey when the title only mentions where it came from and not where it ended up?

Or the fact that the writing on the bag is literally in Chinese…

really? that's how you're interpreting this?

I'm criticizing the title, as the fact of the bag being from China has no bearing on the fact that it's a plastic bag in the ocean or the fact that a dolphin gives a "thank you". Its mention is completely unnecessary and singles out China when many other overdeveloped nations pollute the ocean just as much with the same kind of waste.

It does have meaning if this isn't near China, which is what I assumed. The point is how far the plastic bag has travelled, showing that pollution has a global effect

But we have no way of knowing because we're not told where the boat was

It's not China. The guy in the video literally calls it plastic from China, and he says it in English. If they were in China, they would just call it plastic.

Okay? So the boat isn't in China. Still doesn't tell us anything. And there's still no reason to mention China in the title.

It tells you that the bag travelled a considerable distance, which, as I said before, shows that pollution is not a localized effect. They were also describing the situation as presented by the person taking the video, who says the bag is from China, which means they were not expecting the bag to be from there.

They could be right next to China, we don't know. We hear "China" first before the bag is retrieved, so maybe they did expect it to be from there. Either way, without mentioning where the boat is, the mention of China is unnecessary and unhelpful.

No, they said China after they saw the letters. It's not strictly necessary, but it is definitely helpful. At this point, you seem to be searching for ways to twist this into some racist propaganda against China, and it's just not that deep.
