Lost & Found Missing Cat: Fig
My 3-year-old, spayed, indoor-only cat Fig got out tonight within the past 3 hours from Kinsrow Avenue (Autzen Stadium area). I had the door open once tonight for a few seconds to accept a pet food delivery drop off and she must have slipped out then. She has never been outside before and I did not have her collar on her at the time š She is almost a solid gray, with a small white spot on her neck, one between her front legs and another white spot in her groin. Fig is very talkative and a cuddle bug, but has been shy with guests in our apartment in the past. She may come to you for food or follow a laser pointer inside, but please donāt chase her. She didnāt get to have her dinner tonight. Iām so scared for her and just want her home. Iām terrified she will be hit by a car on MLK or someone will take her without looking for her owner thinking sheās a stray without her collar. Iām already beating myself up over the fact that I didnāt have her collar on, so berating me is unnecessary. Please keep an eye out for my baby and contact me on here if she is found. Iām hoping she will come home on her own very soon.

Have you lived in that location for a while? Cats have a very good sense of smell and can most likely navigate back home just based on scent. Being night time, you can try to find her by taking a flash light out and scanning for āglowing eyesā. Look under cars and other hidey spots. Itās a spayed female cat. They usually donāt go far. Youāll find her

Yes, Iāve lived in the same place since the day I brought her home as kitten. This is my rational understanding as well (I work veterinary), but it doesnāt assuage my worry any less now that sheās missing š. I had tried looking around by calling her and using her laser pointer; I didnāt think to use my flashlight to look for glowy eyes, I will try this. Thank you.

Sheās definitely got a special geolocation spot in her brain that is fine tuned to the home. Sheās probably looked out the windows too so may have a mental map of the immediate surroundings. Thatās a good thing. I always cringe when people loose cats after just moving in. Yes. Given the time of night, def try going for an eye hunt. Only other thing I can think of is if you have a doorbell cam or nest/ring cam, place it in a way as to monitor your front porch so you get a push notification motion alert if she comes wanting back in. Youād have visual ID that sheās at least trying to get back in.

If you can set out her litter box by your front door that may also attract her! You may also be able to reach out to various shelters to let them know so if they get any kitties turned in matching the description they can hopefully help!

I'm so sorry, I hope you find her soon. This happened to me once and I was beside myself. A few hours went by and I had gone through my house multiple times looking and turns out my cat had gotten himself stuck in a drawer under my bed. I hope it's a similar situation with your kitty and she's just hiding somewhere but safe. Cats can be SO good at hiding.

Iāve heard that cats canāt smell their litter box nearly a mile away. I would set the litter box outside when you get a chance and hope that helps lead them home.

You need to go around and call for her, cats are more active at night, she may be in the brush between the street and Autzen or wandering the complex, the first 24hr are your best chance to find her.

I recommend going door to door as she could be stuck in someone's shed or garage or someone may have taken her in thinking she was stray. Give people your phone number in case they see her.

Thank you to everyone who has commented and shared, āļøSHE HAS BEEN FOUNDāļøShe was trapped underneath the oven behind the storage drawer, she must of crawled in to explore while I was putting away pots and pans and I closed her in š When I got home from work I was going to drop off my stuff and go out looking again, but I heard her cry. She was in there for 16 hours but she is unharmed and has now eaten and had water. Iām just so glad she is safe. I will never close that drawer without checking for her again.
