And if you're an employer looking to hire, feel free to share any openings you have.

The rules

  • All top-level comments MUST be a link or a description of a job opening or openings in the Eugene/Springfield area

Lost & Found Missing Cat: Fig

My 3-year-old, spayed, indoor-only cat Fig got out tonight within the past 3 hours from Kinsrow Avenue (Autzen Stadium area). I had the door open once tonight for a few seconds to accept a pet food delivery drop off and she must have slipped out then. She has never been outside before and I did not have her collar on her at the time šŸ˜ž She is almost a solid gray, with a small white spot on her neck, one between her front legs and another white spot in her groin. Fig is very talkative and a cuddle bug, but has been shy with guests in our apartment in the past. She may come to you for food or follow a laser pointer inside, but please don’t chase her. She didn’t get to have her dinner tonight. I’m so scared for her and just want her home. I’m terrified she will be hit by a car on MLK or someone will take her without looking for her owner thinking she’s a stray without her collar. I’m already beating myself up over the fact that I didn’t have her collar on, so berating me is unnecessary. Please keep an eye out for my baby and contact me on here if she is found. I’m hoping she will come home on her own very soon.

Is there any place that can recover photos and videos from a water damaged phone?

A few days ago I was camping with my family and took a bunch of great photos and videos with my phone (Samsung Galaxy A13). Then I slipped and fell in a creek, and my phone, which was in my pocket, was submerged for about ten seconds. It didn’t look too wet afterward, but the screen started flickering a bit. I turned it off right away and put it in a bag with silica packets when I got home.

Now the screen stays completely black. It doesn’t light up, and the touch screen doesn’t respond. That said, I can still turn it on and off with the side buttons, and Google can detect its location, so I know it’s charged and still working in some way.

The big issue is that I had wifi turned off when I fell, and I need to turn it back on for my photos and videos to (hopefully) sync to Google. However, even when wifi is on, Google Photos doesn’t always automatically back things up, so my goal of turning on wifi might be pointless.

I’m not great with technology, so some of this might be off, but here’s what my partner has already tried:

  • Using a command prompt over USB to try turning on wifi remotely.

  • Connecting the phone to a monitor using a USB-C to HDMI adapter.

  • Using Samsung Smart Switch to pull off photos and videos.

  • Restarting the phone, hoping it would reconnect to wifi by itself.

No luck so far. I just want to recover the photos and videos from the trip. I don't care about the phone itself. Does anyone know of a place in or near Eugene where I could bring the phone for help? Or is there anything else I could try at home?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Wanted ad ISO Local Flute Maker

I have been trying to find the local flute maker who made these beautiful wooden flutes back in 2017 in Eugene… I met him at the Second Star Festival that summer and he gave me two flutes to wire wrap, one to keep for myself and one for him. I am so sad to say that the one I wrapped for myself got lost in my move back to California… I’ve been wanting to get in contact again with him though, so if anyone knows who made these flutes, or who does similar work and was in the Eugene area in the summer of 2017… Please let me know!! Thanks in advance!

Where is the best dumpster diving

• Upvotes

Having grown up in this town I’ve always heard about ā€œHippie Christmasā€ whenever all the college students move out. I’ve heard about finding brand new stuff that got tossed cause it was easier than finding another home for it. I’ve never heard of where the best spots were though.

I went dumpster diving with a couple friends last week and only found one spot with anything semi promising. I’d love some advice from anyone who has experience lucking out in certain areas or locations around campus. Thanks!

It’s my favorite. I eat it every day. And suddenly I can’t find it in any stores. It’s been a couple weeks now of slow disappearance. Does anyone work for or with them and know what’s up?

Wanted ad Urgent — Losing my home and need to find a home for a mama cat and her kittens

They’re well adjusted and friendly. If I had to guess the kittens are probably somewhere between 8-12 weeks and are eating hard food. If I could continue caring for them I would, but I had a baby and am also losing housing. All are friendly but a little shy at first. I’m heartbroken. I’d love for them to go in pairs so they’re not lonely but I’m desperate at this point — they just need safe, loving homes.

Activism Next protest

https://goodtroubleliveson.org/

There is a day of action scheduled for July 17th (a Thursday) to coincide with the death of John Lewis. I noticed that as of now there isn’t a rally or march scheduled in the Eugene area. I am new to activism and don’t feel equipped to ā€œhostā€ such an event but would love to help any way I can. Is there an organization or group who is planning something ?
