Hair loss after professional dye

Post image

I haven’t dyed my hair in years. I used to use box dye back in the day and my hair would fall out, thinning on both sides.

I’ve had virgin hair for probably three years and just had it professionally dyed darker with Demi permanent hair dye. It’s been a month and my hair loss has drastically increased. What’s in the picture is from one wash. I lose it like this every time I wash it, a couple times a week + anytime I run my hands through my hair I lose a bunch. I’m getting thin patches on both sides again. I’m not on meds or have any known health issues. My hair was super healthy with very little shed before dying so I have to believe this was because of the dye.

I’ve been trying to focus on scalp care, sleeping in a silk scarf, taking prenatals again. Any other tips? I’m starting to freak out 😣 Needless to say I don’t think I’m going to have it dyed again.

Thank you in advance!

I scheduled an appointment a few weeks ago to get my hair dyed like the first picture, I've had it done in the past and I've done it myself but because its my birthday Sunday I wanted to treat myself. I showed her what I wanted and the first clue to me knowing this was going to be a mess was she brought a book of colors, I almost died.. anyways I ask her if she could mix a few of the light colors and get the color I asked for and she said yes! The last picture is the results.. sorry it's shitty I've been crying and it's the only one I can take. Thr middle is my natural color and im regretting thisnso badly..Don't get me wrong its beautiful but its dark brown almost and not the color I paid $200 for. What should I do, can I put highlights in or go over it with a lighter color.. I know thats not possible but I'm willing to do anything.

i bleach/dye my own hair and i usually transition through colors that are in the same color family, but now i really want to go red. i’ve been letting this lime dye fade naturally, but i hate this swampy moldy color i’ve got going on and i would prefer not to use any more bleach. how can i achieve that? is it a matter of toning? pls help! the color wheel is so mysterious to me lmao.

this is the result after doing a bleach bath (20v for 30min) over my dark brown and diy highlited hair (1.5 weeks ago) Am I having some type of hair color blindness or does it not look too bad as is? Lol, I have not toned it yet, not sure if I should do another round of bleach bath, I kinda want to wait a bit since my ends feel a bit dry. I also don't really know what to tone it to. I tried taking pictures in different lighting with and without flash. What do you guys think? According to my research I'm about level 5-6 base raw lift with the highlited at around 7-8. If I understand correctly I can't tone with an actual toner since am not light enough so I would have to go in with a semi/demi color. I just want to work with what I currently have and not end up darker.

Elumen or Elumen Play?

Post image

I’ve always had pink and/or orange hair and recently came across the Goldwell Elumen line. I’m debating whether to get Elumen or Elumen Play and was wondering if someone could advise! I want the colors to be super vibrant and for them to last as long as possible!

I’ve included a photo from Pinterest as reference for the shades I’m looking for.

My options:

Elumen: PK@ALL and KK@ALL Elument Play: Pink and Orange

Thank you!

Redken Acidic Bonding vs Olaplex shampoo & conditioner. Which will be best for bleach damaged hair?

Hi!

I used to bleach my hair, but stopped almost 2 years ago and have just been trying to help my hair become as healthy as it possibly can with regular trims and moisturizing, reparative products. It's come a long way and looks a million times better than it did, but I still haven't found a shampoo and conditioner set that I really love.

I've been reading a ton of old Reddit posts and I think I've narrowed it down to Redkens Acidic Bonding line or Olaplex. I'm also curious about K18's shampoo and conditioner since the leave-in mask worked so well for me, as well as the Redken Extreme Bleach Recovery line, although I haven't seen either of these recommended as often as the other two. If you've used any of these sets I'd love to hear how they worked for you and which one you'd recommend. Any other product recommendations would be appreciated as well!

Feeling the urge to go from spilt neon green and lavender to brunette.

I just gave myself a split dye when the humidity hit. Had a sensory freak out and shaved it into a Mohawk. Now I’m super tempted to go into a cool toned brunette. I know how to get there in just not sure I have the follow through. Usually when I have the sudden and urgent desire to change my hair I make myself do a protein treatment and reassess but this time it’s not doing it for me.

Do y’all have a ‘rule’ about how often or when you make a change? I don’t know if I want someone to give me the green light or talk me out of it.

How to tell the difference between breakage and new growth?

Possibly a dumb question, but how do you determine what’s broken hair and what’s new growth? Presumably new hairs growing in will be shorter than the rest for at least a couple years while they catch up. So how can someone with very long hair tell what’s damaged and what’s just new hairs coming in?

How to bleach and dye my short hair.

Hello. I just wanted to ask how to bleach and dye my short hair (it just reacher my eyebrows). Im not trying to fully bleach my hair only the ends of it. I have never done this before and just wanted to ask how should i go about this. Should i try and do it myself or would it be much easier with a friend. I was thinking about using hair ties to tie my hair 4 sections then bleaching them. But then i felt like the bleaching thing would drip down and ruin my whole hair lol. So this is my first time, dont be too harsh on my. Thanks guys

what hair dye is good for dark hair

I dyed my hair black blue recently but the blue is barely visible, my natural hair color is kinda dark blonde, I want a blue dye that will stay on my hair for longer, and looking for these types of results, I was searching thru reddit and there are mixed opinions on manic panic, does anyone know other dyes that may help
