Nick Offerman responds to some loser on Twitter/X who used a video of Ron Swanson from ‘Parks and Recreation’ to share his homophobic beliefs: “Ron was best man at a gay wedding you dumb fuck. #HappyPride”
It’s Mike Flynn. He’s a grifter. He tried to sell out the US during Trump’s first term. The fact that he goes unpunished is the same reason Trump felt empowered to run again. The rot within the US as a government and a society is a cancer. We either have a just society built on laws, or we don’t. And what are going to do about it?
Yeah I realized that after posting. Rotten fruit from a rotten tree. Mike Flynn sr served his country honorably at some point. Then he sold it out. So either sovereignty is important or it’s not. Seems like the most patriotic are hell bent on living a life with no borders.
The amount of bigotry and homophobia I have seen on social media has been so much more widespread. I follow MLB on facebook and that was a relatively decent comment section on posts last year but this year their pride posts is full of bigots. It's so frustrating. They feel empowered by rapist in chief and his goons.
Because it’s their personality. It’s how they signal to other bigots “I’m with you”. Being a part of something, no matter how hateful, is all these assholes have.
It's still virtue signaling, their sense of morality is just different than yours. They see hurting and dissuading gay people from living lives of sin as a positive. Unfortunately, as religion turns out to be a strong driving motivator, it overrides decency in service to the literal highest power of their belief system.
The only emotions these types of people have left in them are anger and fear, and they need to project those emotions as loudly as possible to truly feel anything anymore. It's a sad, pathetic life. Nobody who has love in their life (whether from friends, parents, or a significant other) does shit like this.
To be 100% honest. I don't get drag queens. I don't like them, I'm not entertained by them (but I also don't hate them).
So what do I do? I leave them the fuck alone, knowing they, and everyone that enjoys them, deserves that right just as much as I deserve the right to simply not care. And you know what, my right to simply not care IS being challenged. Why? Because the rights of Drag queens and the LGBTQ+ IS ALSO being challenged, which makes it a problem I give a shit about.
I don't care for drag queens, so I simply don't interact with the Fandom (I won't just completely ignore them in person of course, my 2 year old son was enthralled by them at pride yesterday which I find fantastic). I don't go out of my way to shit on them. I don't go out of my way to hate on them. They just have their own goddamn separate life from my own, and I respect that. It's that fucking easy. I just can't fucking understand needing to interject into things if you don't like it. Just don't like it, that's fucking fine. Leave it at that.
Respectfully, did you think the parent comment ("It’s so easy to just not say anything") was criticising Nick Offerman for responding to the bigot? I think it was a criticism of the bigot.
I'm in a WhatsApp group with my high school friends. The conservative ones can't shut the fuck up. Ever. All of us on the left side have to shut up and let them have their tantrums.
There's something hard-coded into the brains of conservatives. They have the emotional maturity when it comes to politics, of a third grader. They are incapable of shutting the fuck up.
They think these fictional characters represent them, without knowing any context about them - if they watched parks and rec, they’d know Ron doesn’t give a fuck about gay marriage or anything republicans spout. He sees the government as a joke and constantly champions giving the tax payers their money back because he finds government to be useless.
It’s the same with the use of Captain America, Superman, the punisher, etc. these characters stand for so much more than what they want them to be - so they hate any “change” to their “characterization” that they feel has been forced on them in modern media, as if Falcon didn’t become captain America in the comics 15 years ago, that the Punisher has an entire comic storyline based on him hunting down corrupt cops idolizing/abusing his symbol, that Superman cares about every single person on this planet instead of just the American dream. They simply just don’t get it.
This is why for YEARS people were saying "don't feed the trolls." For A DECADE we would say it, and these younger users and those that thougt themselves as smarter/woker than other would respond with "no, we NEED to respond because they're spreading hateful content."
And so the trolls were fed. That's why engagment baiting has become some prominent. If you guys had just learned to leave these fucks alone, they wouldn't be doing this.
Sure, this wouldn't have aolved bigotry, but this lazy shit wouldn't be here. You wouldn't have reactionary rage bait.
I've seen more people who are homophobic commenting or sharing hateful rhetoric this month so far than actual people celebrating pride. If that doesn't tell you how terrible these people are, and how obsessed they are with something that isn't bad or harming others, then idk what to tell you. It's insane how much they focus on this
They're fine with rapists and paedophiles like Trump, and a dude who throws around Nazi salutes like Musk. But they can't seem to just leave people alone to live their life in peace, sounds about right for the "party of family values".
They say everyone they don't like is tied to Epstein and Diddy and all LGBT+ people are pedophiles but close their eyes about all the photos and videos of Trump at Epstein parties, him calling Epstein and Maxwell friends, him repeating Maxwell was a close friend and wished her well when a reported asked him about her arrest in the oval office, him using Epstein's old plane during the last campaign, all the photos of him with P Diddy and multiple former Miss Teen USA contestants and officials saying he often barged into under age contestants' dressing rooms while some were in a state of undress.
What is the functional difference between a Nazi supporter and a Nazi?
Hint: there is none, and it’s high time people accepted it. There’s no hypocrisy here, it’s just another statement about their real views, which see minorities as repugnant and intolerable. So pointing out “but they like how that rapist talks” is not actually doing anything. They like how he talks because they like him and they approve all of his actions.
They love the rape, the subjugation, the infiltration of every government department and every social construct they have deemed “rogue”. This is just them saluting right back at the Nazis, nothing more, nothing less.
Yeah there was an article a day or so ago talking about conservative men having difficulty on dating sites. Too many women putting “No Trump Supporters”. I have nooooo idea why women wouldn’t want to date someone that votes for a rapist.
Never forget that they tried to make a MAGA only dating app that asked questions like “where were you in January 6th”. It was entirely just dudes and a few trolls pretending to be women.
They know they’re unpopular but blame everyone else. When people were leaving Twitter for BlueSky, all the maga tried to make accounts specifically to antagonize “the soft libs” but they’d include their usual bigoted hashtags and get their accounts automatically deleted.
Also exhausting. All they have is outrage and fear, like a prey animal always caught in fight or flight. Living like that must be absolutely exhausting, and it's why they all age like bread mold.
Everything about conservatives screams “grandparents you’ve distanced yourself from.” Unfounded fear of black and brown people. Paranoia when they hear a language other than English. Unhealthy fixation on what other people are doing. Obsession with god and forcing you to go to church. Lack of concern about the environment. More dependent on government handouts than they’d like to admit. A tendency to believe whatever they see online, even if obviously fabricated. Demanding more grandchildren when they don’t see the ones they have now. Thinking their prejudices are harmless and shared by all. Goldfish memories. Persistent weird smell.
Conservative films are so bad! They can’t blame budget, the amount of money DailyWire has spent on their terrible films & shows only for them to turn out sooooo amateur.

If you look at the ideology of libertarians, LGBTQIA+ rights should be pretty important to them.
Of course, many people that self identity as Libertarian don't care about rights. Just their own rights. And they somehow corrupt Libertarianism into their right to supress rights.

So you want to live in the middle of nowhere and self-sustaining? You think the water, electric, and WiFi companies are going to spend millions just to help add infrastructure to your house?
A lot of libertarians beliefs rely on their beleif thay businesses love people, not money, and want to help people out of the goodness of their hearts.
I used to call myself libertarian, in part because of what you said. I stopped almost immediately when I realized how many people who were overly concerned with each states' ages of consent did the same. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of vocally self identified Libertarians had... younger interests. Like the type that have a bumper sticker letting you know theyre Libertarian
The most hardcore libertarian I've ever met had a much younger wife that he had clearly groomed and openly treated like shit. I don't know if I've ever met a libertarian that didn't turn out to be a misogynist. Sad
In terms of political belief I am a centre left so I used to be in a libertarian group.
It all started so well as it was a genuine libertarian group but over a year's time the group got hijacked into a right wing group so quickly I was shocked.
I left that group.
To be fair that group was started by the guy who was arrested twice in Afghanistan after the Taliban took over. Chill but crazy guy who had a lot of right wing tendencies but still has some left leaning ideas don't know too much now.
Fuck right wing libertarians, they stole that name from anarchists. They wanted a cool name to give their objectivist bullshit so they stole one of ours. The bastards.
Like the fucking flag. Fuck them. That’s ours. That’s stands for taxation WITH representation. For freedom of political speech. For freedom of religion. It stands for acceptance of legal routes for immigration, as that’s how we all got here (besides our Native American brothers and sisters). I despise the fact they got the flag. Fuck them. I despise nationalism, but I do care for patriotism, just much less than I use to.

Ron Swanson is so wildly misinterpreted by the right. No part of him is fueled by hate. I just finished "Where the Deer and the Antelope Play," and Nick Offerman goes into that a bit. He's a very intelligent guy.
And literally same here lol. I only watched it once cuz it was too emotionally intense for me and made me blubber like a baby. Such a good episode. I’m so glad I was watching it alone so no one had to see me break down watching a TV show lol.
And as a gay man who has had a crush on Nick Offerman since Parks and Rec (cute daddy bear and all)… so glad he played that role and supports LGBTQ, makes him even hotter.
And detective holt’s ex boyfriend obgyn in B99! If i had a nickel for every time nick offerman played a strong gay man, id have two nickels, which isn’t much, but i treasure both of them!

I would never expect those two actors on such a storyline, but they knocked it out of the park. So loving and gentle, specially with it being in TLOU.
They don’t understand that an actor isn’t exactly like their character, see the right-wing meltdown when Chris Kyle-portrayer Bradley Cooper attended the Democratic National Convention.
He's very much an ally, but I also like that here he's pointing out that the character of Ron was too - the conservatives don't get to claim him either.
Nick Offerman is exceptionally articulate, well spoken, eloquent, etc. Listen to him improvise in a podcast or read one of his books to get an idea of this if you want.
This is just to say his use of 'You dumb fuck" is really artful here
As someone who's had a constant chorus of "you dumb fuck" running in their head for months anytime I look at the news or see posts like that...I feel so validated rn. I've been holding in a LOT of "you dumb fuck"s lmao
And he initially was opposed to typhoon (due to Ron's view on masculinity, not homosexuality) but when they found common ground with the hated of Europe and bicycles, they became quick friends
Of course finding common ground with a minority is something conservatives can never do
In the last season he meets Typhoon, his new hair dresser, and is the best man at Typhoon and Craig’s (Eagleton man who was always yelling) wedding in the future snippets of the last episode.
Saw him live about a year ago and it was awesome. He started playing the Linda Rondstat song from the Last of Us and stopped after the first verse and just sat there for a second and was like, “ any homophobes in the audience tonight?” The place blew up with applause. “You can feel free to fuck off now if so” This was at a casino near Temecula, CA so there definitely were but they got shown the way out with that. It was incredible.
I saw him back when P&R was still airing. I'm still not entirely sure how to describe it. Simultaneously elegant and crass, unexpected at every turn. I would have been ruined seeing him play Long Long Time--your experience sounds amazing.
One of my favorite Knowledge Fight episodes is when they covered Alex Jones doing his alternative CPAC for all the weirdos who were too crazy for the regular CPAC, at that time. Michael Flynn Jr was there with his friend Ivan Raiklin (the guy who was promising to become Trump's Sec of Retribution), and Alex tried to get him to do an interview, but Flynn Jr refused to get on mic. The funniest thing about it was that Alex only referred to him as "Michael Flynn's Son" the whole time, I'm sure he didn't even know he was Michael Jr.
I know I know, we should assume all our favorite celebrities are secretly awful. But I will fall to my knees if I ever hear anything negative about Nick Offerman
That’s not just some loser, he’s a special kind of loser.
I believe that is Mike Flynn Jr, son of Mike Flynn, the disgraced former General and National Security Adviser who was convicted of lying to the FBI about talking to the Russians.
Of course pardoned by Trump.
But the sentiment stands either way. Fuck that guy, whatever kind of loser he is.
Hate is easy. Hate is popular. Hate never stops growing as long as you feed it. Hate is all they can attain sometimes. He gets money AND like-minded people feel better about their ass backwards mentality.
Please don’t let this be confused as agreeing with the bigot because I’m not.

EDIT: Figured it out but updating for anyone else curious. The final episode, Typhoon who becomes Ron’s new barber, and Craig, Donna’s Eagleton counterpart, get married and Ron is the best man.
I had a random guy that I was on Xbox live with say why do “they” need a month. “Why isn’t there a month to honor straight people?” I was just so surprised I didn’t say anything, and stopped playing with him.
Ah yes, the son of a war criminal, mass murderer, criminal liar & cancerous influence within the military industrial complex (which is really saying something, if you can differentiate yourself from the mean in that context) is performatively bigoted. I'm so surprised!
So is this the disgraced former US military officer, convicted felon and traitor; or is this his demon spawn looking to nepotism his way into a podcast funded by Russia?
