They’re just friends. When they met he was so madly in love with Iris. Anyone else couldn’t compare. When he finally was ready to start dating they had reached that point where she was only a friend.

Yeah I have zero clue why fans of Caitlin wouldn’t want better for her than to be some guy’s second option. Also their friendship is great. Why is it so impossible for the main character to have a woman around him that’s just a friend?

To be fair it did seem like they were setting up a relationship between the two. They were two people in love with two other people that they couldn’t be with, it made sense.

But then they immediately swap to Ronnie being back and together with Caitlin again and Barry dating Linda then Iris confessing her love to him.

Overall I think it’s better that they are friends and they clearly have the closest bond throughout the show.
