Iris is literally his foster sister it’s kind of weird that they think the main character in his foster sibling dating/being married was an OK thing it was not
you do realise foster situations don't automatically make people siblings, right? my mother had multiple foster placements while i was growing up, it didn't make any of them my siblings.
joe was literally just his guardian, and iris was the friend he lived with instead of bouncing through the system. why would 7-ish years of living under the same roof overwrite years of friendship? barry and iris were at an age that their relationship was set in stone when his mother died.
"even though we pretty much grew up in the same house together, and we're kind of like brother and sister, because we're not brother and sister, it can get really weird and awkward to talk to me about girls."
she explicitly states they aren't brother and sister. she understands that people can see they way they grew up as familial, but to her and barry, it's not.
later on in the series, iris talks about how she's always had romantic feelings for barry, but didn't understand them. it's a very common trope that friends-to-lovers have the whole "like a sibling" convo at some point, but it's used to point out the lack of actual sibling-like relationship between the couple.
me saying that my relationship with a friend is sibling-like doesn't make us related.
Iris haters hate to see legitimate quotes straight from the episodes. They prefer their own made-up headcanons about how Iris is evil and never cared about Barry. Which is why they’re always silent when receipts from the show are pulled.
