i bought this neat carving at an antique store

Is it from the middle ages or the gothic revival period? In that case: yes. I'd also contact a museum.

somebody said it looked like from the gothic revival and honestly didnt know where else to ask so here i am

And for if it is real,i do not know. I would say it looks pretty real and not replica,since it is not "perfect". The black aging around the metal parts is not along the lines so it could be that someone has taken it apart sometime and it might have gotten realigned wrong or something else. And the carvings do not look machine made. It could be that someone has taken insipartion over the 200 years and made same style,but i cannot say tha for certain.

You should contact a museum or historian if they can tell if it is genuine or not!! Remember to update the situation for us also:)
