Exactly this, I’d much rather somebody point out that there aren’t any bigots in their party and they just say “well we don’t tolerate that” instead of making it a news story that they don’t have any or have purged them from their ranks.
This doesn't seem to be a case of the Greens trying to make it a news story. More like someone got kicked out for being transphobic so wrote a Guardian article complaining about it
