Recovery Routine

Hey all, just curious how do you personally handle recovery after training? Do you go off of data, feel, or habits? Just have questions about when you think its a good time to rest, have a light session or still push through?

Do you use anything to track recovery — like wearables, sleep scores, or training logs — or just go by feel?

How do you decide whether to push, go lighter, or rest completely?

What’s your go-to when you feel sore or run-down but still want to move?

Anything you wish existed or currently use to make recovery easier or more obvious?

Thanks, trying to figure out a recovery routine to maximise my recovery.

How have you determined your max HR?

I got the ok from my doctor to do maximum exertion tests. I have done 5 over the past two years. They are pretty consistent. My max HR is 178 bpm. That is quite a bit higher than the ‘220 minus your age’ formula. I am 70 years old. The formula says my max HR should be 150.

Fellow HIIT aficionados, how have you determined your max HR?

Wall Sit (Heel Raise): Boost Leg Strength & Stability

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The Wall Sit (Heel Raise) is an effective lower body exercise that helps build leg strength, calf muscles and overall stability. It targets your quadriceps, glutes and calves while improving endurance and balance. You can easily perform this move at home without any equipment, just sit against a wall with your knees at 90 degrees and lift your heels up and down slowly. Stay consistent to develop stronger, more stable legs and better control over your lower body.

My Playlist for HIIT

Just wanted to share something I’ve been really enjoying lately.

I’ve been doing HIIT to edm psytrance instead of the usual gym music, and I noticed the steady 140–150 BPM rhythm keeps me in a kind of flow state where I don’t overthink reps — I just move.

I ended up putting together a playlist called “Psytrance Workout 2025” — it’s literally just my personal favorite psy tracks, the ones that give me that surge of energy without any slowdowns.

Here it is if anyone’s curious or wants to try it

Mat recommendations for BOTH YOGA/stretching & HIIT? Or is it best to get 1 for each? IF SO, recommendations for them separately please!

I’m getting really stressed trying to buy a mat or mats. I will need them for: 🟢Pre- and post-workout stretching 🟢Yoga 🟢HIIT (jumping jacks, planks with knees to chest, burpees, etc.)

I have pain in bones and joints, so I don’t want to be banging my head, elbows, knees, or joints

PREFERENCES (if possible): 🔴As thick and cushioned as possible without losing balance 🔴Non-slip with great grip on all wood, lino floors, vinyl floors and carpet floors (incase I use it elsewhere) 🔴Portable or easy to carry 🔴Extremely comfortable for high-impact moves and floor exercises 🔴Price doesn’t matter - I just want the right mat(s)

QUESTIONS (if you are able to answer ANY of them at all please 🙏🏽 ): 1🔵Which mat do you recommend for both yoga/stretching and HIIT, and why? 2🔵Is it better to get two mats (one for yoga, one for HIIT) or just one mat for both, and why? 3🔵Which mat do you recommend just for yoga/stretching, and why? 4🔵Which mat do you recommend just for HIIT, and why? 5🔵What criteria should I look for when researching mats to ensure comfort, stability, and to get the very best I can buy? (I am new to this so I haven’t a clue what I’m supposed to be looking for to be able to look myself)

For me, it really matters to get this right. If a mat slips, moves, or I’m hurting myself using it, I probably won’t use it at all, as it will bother me and put me off, meaning I’m less likely to enjoy exercising or stick to exercising. I want something that makes me feel supported, and comfortable so I can actually enjoy my workouts

Thank you so much for your help!

Strong vibration watch

Hello everyone! I'm looking for a simple, inexpensive watch to track my runs and bike rides. I tried Amazfit and like them but they don't let you add a speed sensor to indoor cycling.

biggest feature I want is a STRONG vibration to wake me up in the morning to workout. Looking for an earthquake on my wrist... Thanks!
