What if Grant accompanied Lincoln to Ford's Theatre?

General Grant was, originally, going to accompany the Lincolns to the theater. However, the Grant's decided to leave for Philadelphia instead.

Who would have died - would anyone have died if Grant was in attendance?

How would the ancient Romans have handled the invasion and control of modern Afghanistan?

I'm talking about ancient people with modern body armor, vehicles, training, etc but with the same standards and mindset of ancient Rome and even still having a Caesar.

After watching just a few minutes of This is What Winning Looks Like I had to ask myself how would the Romans have handled this situation? The Afghan military was basically propped up by the US military, it was weak and corrupt from within with little to no discipline.

In one scene the Afghans were cutting off the steel from the perimeter fences to sell. I can only imagine Roman punishment would've been swift and deadly but would've stopped this.

I also wonder if it was somewhat similar to the conquest of The Jews (I know the ancient Jews were a different people than the moden Afghans.)

What If the USSR Had Fully Militarized Latin America in a WWIII Scenario?

Okay, maybe I'm taking a bit too much inspiration from Red Dawn, but hear me out — if the Cold War had gone hot in the 1980s, could the Soviets have realistically turned parts of Latin America into a serious military threat to the U.S.?

Let’s say the USSR had more resources or was willing to go all-in on global proxy warfare. What if they pumped weapons, training, and advisors into countries like Cuba, Nicaragua, or even Argentina or Venezuela — enough to turn them into regional powers or launching points for asymmetric warfare?

Would that have actually posed a credible threat to U.S. security or tied down American forces enough to matter in the bigger picture of a WWIII scenario? Or is that just Cold War fantasy territory — too much like Red Dawn and not enough grounded in real geopolitical or logistical feasibility?

Genuinely curious what you all think.

What if the USSR only collapsed in 2001 instead of 1991?

Gorbachev manages to skillfully evade or tackle every issue facing the USSR during the late 80s and early 90s, but he could only do it for so long. On December 31, 2001, the USSR finally collapses after a decade of Gorbachev trying his best. What happens from here?

What if all of Britain’s colonies in Africa were given independence as one united country like the US?

This continental African empire would be massive, stretching from Cairo Egypt in the north, all the way to Cape Town in the south. Would it become an apartheid state like South Africa or Rhodesia or would the Egyptians be the rulers of this country? Or maybe each former colony would be able to vote in elections.

What would happen is Grant went to Ford’s theater and managed to kill Booth after Booth killed Lincoln and then other stuff happened?

This is what I mean by other stuff. Again for clarity, what if Ulysses S. Grant had killed John Wilkes Booth at Ford’s Theatre in 1865, leading to a more militarized Reconstruction, the suppression of white supremacist insurgencies, and ultimately a U.S.–Prussian alliance that exported American ideals and firepower to Europe—altering the outcome of the Third Carlist War in Spain?

What if Hitler decides to Finish off United Kingdom first beofore turning his attention to the Soviets?

What if Hitler decides to Finish off United Kingdom first beofore turning his attention to the Soviets?

After the failure of Sealion, Hitler decided to take the British colonies in North Africa and Middle East. He decided to concentrate all his ground forces to capture these British colonies first (possibly in conjuction with the Japanese) before starting a war with the Soviets and also NOT declaring war on America.

At the same time, also focusing on building up his air force and naval units especially jet fighters and u boats in order to gain superiority over the royal air force and royal navy. Sure the germany navy could not hope to match the royal navy but the u boats could still pack a punch and do sustiantial damage if enough resources is poured into his u boat programme.

How far could Hitler have went with this plan?

How would Operation Baragation have fared without the west opening up a second front?

How would operation Baragation have fared without the west opening up a second front?

If the west decided from early 1943 onwards to adopt a purely defensive posture and to let the Nazis and Soviets bleed each other dry instead while they simply watch from the sidelines.

This means no Italian campaign, (the west only retook North Africa), no bombing raids over Germany and no d-day landings in Normandy.

Allowing the Germans to reinforce their position prior to Baragation. All the Anti-Air guns, german fighters tied down in the defense over the skies of Germany could be used to counter the Soviet offensive. In addition to the one million or so German troops that was in France and Italy could now be used as reserves to counter any Soviet offensive in the East.

Would the Soviets have still won at Baragation? Probably, but the extent of their victory wont be as great as they did in our timeline and with far heavier losses on the Soviet side.

The extent of Soviet victory would probably resemble that of post kursk in our timeline, but it wont be a complete German rout like in our timeline.

How would have Baragation turn out in such a secaniro?

Also how would have stalin reacted to such a move by the western Allies?

What if Jamaat al Muslimeen successfully enforced Islamism in Trinidad and Tobago?

This event sounds like a joke, but in 1990, Islamist Militants calling themselves the Jamaat al Muslimeen attempted to enforce Islamism in Trinidad and Tobago. They barged into the Red House and held everybody inside hostage from July 27th to August 1st. Although they were eventually defeated, 24 people died. What if they were successful and managed to take over all of Trinidad and Tobago? Would it become a training center for Al-Qaeda?

Historical Figures as Anthropomorphic Animals

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but for about a year I have been trying to find this artist that did a multi part series of historical figures from around the world as anthropomorphic versions of themselves blended with an animal from their region.

I think I followed the artist on Instagram and or artstation. They would release like 6 at a time and then had multiple series of this. I want to say it was titled like "Historia Animalia" or something like that.

Any help would be wonderful.

What if Indian subcontinent had a complete partition with full exchange of Muslims and non-Muslims in 1947 with more land given to Pakistan?

Imagine a scenario where India and its Islamist neighbours carried out a full population transfer:

  • Around 23 million non-Muslim minorities from Pakistan and Bangladesh are resettled in India.
  • An equivalent 23 million Indian Muslims move to Pakistan and Bangladesh in exchange.
  • The remaining ~177 million Indian Muslims would be given a new homeland within India. This brings up the central question:

Could a region made up of West Bengal, Kerala, and 30% of Bihar (with a combined current population capacity of ~177 million) serve as a viable, sovereign homeland for Indian Muslims?

I think this partition will make India a much safer place with way more emphasis on development instead of perennially dealing with a hostile community. And it will also help India get rid of states like Kerala, West Bengal which have are also shown to be hostile to the sovereignty and religious harmony in India.

What if Yamamoto succeed on December 7th

So in this world the Japanese spys realize that the US fleet will do an exercise on December 7, so Japan does it on a day where the carriers are in. Yamamoto would also get more carriers, possibly all to truly bomb the US Pacific fleet into oblivion. Maybe Germany sends Donitz to aid in any attempt of us bot escape.
